For this operation, the artist set up a company in the City of London as a shield for legal persecution and to compete in the market against offshore centers. He utilizes aggressive business strategies for a political work of art and reverses corporate machination for creative subversive agendas. With the money generated by selling companies' identities, Paolo plans to expand his business into Bermuda, Jersey, the Seychelles, and Delaware, among others. Tor 0.2.0.31 addresses two potential anonymity issues, starts to fix a big bug we're seeing where in rare cases traffic from one Tor stream gets mixed into another stream, and fixes a variety of smaller issues. https://www.torproject.org/download.html Changes in version 0.2.0.31 - 2008-09-03 o Major bugfixes: - Make sure that two circuits can never exist on the same connection with the same circuit ID, even if one is marked for close. For those of you that do not know, I am currently working on building a distributed search engine for I2P. While it is still in an alpha state, it is approaching the point where it could use some wider testing. It is now in cvs under the module khksearch. I was planning to hold off on releasing it until I fixed a bug preventing servers from joining in mid operation, but it has proved elusive enough, that I think more eyeballs may help. One thing that some of you may be interested in even if you don't care about the search engine itself, is that to make it work with I2P I took the streaming library for Java and put it into a wrapper class that imitates java.net so all one has to do is take the wrapper code put it in the class path and in your java program replace "import java.net.*" with "Import search.connection.*" and your app is instantly ported to I2P. (Assuming it is fairly simplistic and only has one socket server per Jvm instance. But this could easily be improved upon if anyone is interested. ) There is still lots to do, not all of which requires huge technical skill. (Code cleanup, Better instructions, Startup scripts for windows and other JVMs) Also the existing awt interface needs to be converted into an applet or so that it can run within a webpage. The biggest thing that remains to be done is implementing the ranking code, I plan to do this next. As far as the license goes, it will we a free software license that permits modification and public access to the source. (probably lgpl or similar) However all of the scripts and all of the code for the wrapper, were written by me, and are public domain. Folks: SHA-3 (Keccak) is a fine alternative to SHA-2, has a substantially different design from the SHA-2 family, and has excellent performance in hardware. However, many use cases need an alternative to MD5 b something with better security properties than MD5 but with high performance in software. To that end, we've defined BLAKE2, an optimized version of SHA-3 finalist BLAKE that is faster than MD5 on Intel 64-bit CPUs. https://blake2.net Target applications include cloud storage (my current field), revision control tools, software distribution, host-based intrusion detection, and digital forensics b areas where MD5 and SHA1 currently dominate. We do not think that this superior software performance comes at a cost of reduced security. We argue that much of the extensive security analysis performed on BLAKE during the SHA-3 process applies to BLAKE2 and shows no cause for concern about BLAKE2's security. Please see the blake2.pdf white paper for the details of that argument. In addition, I'll make an argument here that we did not put into the white paper: A guiding factor in NIST's choice of Keccak over BLAKE for SHA-3 was that they wanted SHA-3 to be substantially different from SHA-2 so that it could serve as a fallback in case a breakthrough suddenly revealed SHA-2 to be vulnerable. This was NIST's reason for choosing Keccak over BLAKE even though by their own estimation BLAKE's security margin was comparable to Keccak's and the depth of cryptanalysis that had been applied to BLAKE was greater than that applied to Keccak. That is a good strategy for choosing an algorithm to serve as an emergency fallback, in case SHA-2 suddenly breaks. On the other hand if SHA-2 has remains unbroken, and you are considering the security of BLAKE2, then the fact that it is a traditional Add-Rotate-XOR design like SHA-2 should give increased confidence. When the SHA-3 project began, there was concern among many cryptographers that a breakthrough might appear at any moment and reveal SHA-2 to be vulnerable. Since that hasn't happened after years of study, this concern has faded, and SHA-2 appears for now to have withstood the test. I think a similar argument could be made for the way that BLAKE2 re-uses the ChaCha/Salsa20 stream cipher, which has not been found to have any serious vulnerability. In addition to the superior software performance of the basic single-threaded, linear mode, BLAKE2 includes variants optimized for 32-bit architectures, for SIMD/multicore processors, for Merkle-Tree applications, and for message integrity checking. I'm particularly keen on the SIMD/multicore variant, a parallelized mode named "BLAKE2*p", because almost all modern CPUs b even a lot of the cheap and power-efficient 32-bit ARM chips b come with efficient SIMD features. It looks like it will be possible to have 4-way or 8-way parallelized BLAKE2*p which are many *times* as efficient as MD5, on both short files and long files. Once we've finished porting, measuring, and experimenting with the different modes of BLAKE on different machines, we intend to write a "b2sum" command-line tool, which we hope will eventually replace "md5sum" in the unix user's toolset. Comments on Site #139: http://www.healthynewage.com healthychoice(a)earthlink.net ~~~~ This is a nice looking site, but I do have some recommendations just to make it a little easier. 1 - The look of the logo and first sentence "A Healthy New Age..." with a serif font just didn't seem to fit with the color and style of the rest of the site. 2 - As someone unfamiliar with new age stuff, I would have liked more of an introduction to describe what I would find at your site. 3 - There is a LOT of information and links on the home page. It might just be me, but I don't like so many decisions on what link to click on or where to go. By dividing this information up into main categories, then sub-categories, I wouldn't have felt overwhelmed. ~~~~ Cool background. I wish you hadn't covered it up with the white text box. But if you are using a text box / table, instead of centering all the information, I'd separate those links into side by side cells, eliminating a lot of white space and scrolling. ~~~~ This is a fast-loading site, with very extensive information on new age products and practices. I thought the 'alphabet soup challenge' was a neat idea, and you definitely have a lot of content. With the layout, try to stick to one background print, and one related background color for the other pages if you don't want to always use the print. While the topics all related to new age, the pages didn't seem to relate at all with the different borders and colors for every page. Having webmaster recommendations, I think you need to share information about yourself, I didn't find any contact information on the whole site. Great job with your meta tags, I would think you rate pretty high with search engines. ~~~~ Healthy new age was a unique site, with a fun layout and graphics that felt artsy, but with no photographs everything seemed to load quickly. I was glad to see the site index as there was almost too much on the home page, but thought the site index should have been closer to the top of the page. I clicked on some of the links, checking out the alphabet soup challenge, and some of the articles and mall stores. I was confused by the 'Enter the star gates' in the motivation central section, as I didn't know what the star gates were. A description or more information would be helpful by some of these links. ~~~~ Calm and relaxing site. Well planned and informative. Pages load quickly. Lots of time needed to visit everything, but heaps of interesting features. The white parts of the first page could be the same soft green as the rest (the white might be disguising a white square background behind the logo?)
