I wonder if you could help me. Have you heard of any "leads" to help me find 2 people to join? Perhaps there is someone who has been gifted many times over who would help me. I have been in one activity for 2 months and talked to 40 something people. I simply don't have the friends or contacts to find people to join me. They are too afraid; they don't like to talk about money; they are afraid they will lose it; they have heard so many negative things; or they think it is illegal, a pyramid scam or something. I am a conservative Protestant Christian lady, divorced, who hurts financiallly since I was divorced. I came back to Chicago from L.A. and got myself deeply in debt on 2 credit cards. I don't know what else to do. Someone said there were "leads" out there. I could try and get myself out of the one I'm in - and opt out. But I believe in the concept. If this is people helping people, can't someone help the new people? I have another friend who lost her job in September and has had a very difficult time. She doesn't have 2 friends either. Today there are very few collections of individuals that oppose government in general and that have more than 1% of intelligent, coherent, technologically savvy members. Cypherpunk MOVEMENT is one of those, and it is dangerous to the government, for the good reason. Come to think of it, I cannot recall any other MOVEMENT that comes even close to cypherpunks. Most clans that deal with arms ... I mean technology ... are mostly gadgeteers or plain cults. Cypherpunks (at least 2% of them) have a clear agenda and expertise to achieve it. Very dangerous, as we are finding out.

I would just like to inform everybody our organisation just went under a heavy smtp DoS. The symptoms where thousands of connections established from at first the same source to the smtp port of one of our MX. Once we've started blocking this particular IP address, the connections started comming from a different address. And so on for about 3 hours. I had to write a quick and dirty connection tracker to determine if each source IP had more than 15 connections. If it did, I'd block them. What we where able to deterimne is that every host that was used to DoS us where Windows based machines. All of these hosts where running IIS4 or IIS5. We also where able to notice that the hosts used for the attack where being used in alphabetical order of their domain name as we blocked them.
