Capitalism and Anarchism, as it is with socialism, are mutually exclusive. There IS NO SUCH THING as "Anarcho-capitalism". Why? Because anarchism is based on people freely exchanging according to need, not "free markets" exchanging according to greed. Rr

Enron-type coverups do not typically exist
by Ryan Carboni 03 Dec '17

03 Dec '17

Most coverups don't really involve people grabbing reams of documents and forcing them down shredders (although the Iran-Contra case comes to mind). Instead they often involve deceiving their participants as to the necessity as to continuing the coverup and the ongoing actions. Let's call this a JFK-style coverup. The most noteworthy JFK-style coverup would be the LAPD police cadet scandal. (perhaps the Hollywood sex scandals would be better, but I suppose in retrospect there is no good reason to lock a door from your desk) http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-lapd-cadets-thefts-timeline-201… (excerpts for maximal understanding) ”When you look back, you can say, ‘Well, how come no one noticed that?’” said Frank. “We have a lot of young-looking officers. … There’s so many officers that are looking like that, we’re at that stage where it’s not that odd until after the fact.” ... Cain’s attorney, Bill Seki, has denied his client had any knowledge of the thefts. Seki has repeatedly accused the LAPD of using Cain as a “scapegoat” and contends other officers were aware that the vehicles had been taken. “They’re still trying to throw it at him, the easy target, protecting others that would have been aware of it,” he said. ---- Basically he is pointing out the disingenuity of it all. I believe the ACLU too has been disingenuous, and so has Black Lives Matter. They support increased numbers of prosecutions of police brutality cases, and yet so many times these cases yield not guilty verdicts. Even in the case where a police officer shot a man because he smelled like weed (nevermind that burnt weed is not that different a smell from industrial chemicals). I just wonder how this could happen. It is such a mystery. All these millions. Going no where. Can't figure it out. Such a mystery. Insurmountable. Really curious. Don't get it. Beyond me.

Crypto Documentary: Banking On Bitcoin
by grarpamp 03 Dec '17

03 Dec '17

Not since the invention of the Internet itself has there been such a controversial technological creation as Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the most disruptive invention since the internet, and now an ideological battle is underway between fringe utopists and mainstream capitalism. Bitcoin's early pioneers sought to blur the lines of sovereignty and the financial status quo. After years of underground development, Bitcoin grabbed the attention of a curious public – as well as the ire of the regulators the technology had subverted. Yet after landmark arrests of prominent cyber criminals, Bitcoin, which actually surged on election night, still faces its most severe adversary, the very banks it was built to destroy. ROTF no. Not ever. People like Bell and co have the ethics of fleas, and other parasites. Something i suspect TimMay got out of the industry too early to see. short essay Dystopia: Worm destroys half of the computers
by Georgi Guninski 02 Dec '17

02 Dec '17

I wanna be a paperback writer ;) Updates will be on http://j.ludost.net ====== Dystopia: Worm destroys half of the computers by Georgi Guninski, 2017-12-02 ver. 1.0 Allegedly Steven Hawking said: “I think computer viruses should count as life ... I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.” On a cold sunny winter day a worm destroyed half of the computers. It exploited few zero days in the BIOS remote management system which is OS agnostic. By design the worm was destructive. It flashed all firmware it could and did physical damage turning the device into unbootable “brick”. Wiped all data from device's storage too. If the worm could connect to the management port the device was essentially owned. Antivirus warez didn't help since they didn't have a change to note any “anomaly”. The implications on the real world were severe. Severely malfunctioning were shops, hospitals and a lot of other stuff. Older generation worms like ILOVEYOU, WannaCry looked like wanted security updates compared to the worm. Some service providers were so little screwed up, if they wanted to be up, they had to offer free services to all. Cynics joked this was the first real beta testing of communism. Crazy people claimed Pink Floyd predicted the mess around 1980 by singing “Waiting for the worms to come”.
