Planning for a project to implement 1000-node anonymization network

I am emailing as an interested party on behalf of some people on the cypherpunks email list. We are considering a project implementing a large anonymization network, hopefully in excess of 1000 nodes. One possibility is that the hardware for a node will be a Raspberry Pi 4 computer, nodes which could be placed in residences. We hope to get subsidies to buy the hardware, and possibly partly-subsidized Internet service as well. We want to amount to competition to the TOR system. At that time, the electrolyte used was extremely caustic and poisonous. After years of experimentation, Jackson devised a new electrolyte -- whose composition is a closely guarded secret -- he says make it possible for his invention to power an electric car for up to 1,500 miles. What happens when it runs out of juice? You replace it with a new one while the old one gets recycled. At the beginning of the electric car era when charging infrastructure was nonexistent, the idea of swapping spent batteries for fully charged new ones was considered feasible. Jackson says such a thing could be the future, with his batteries/fuel cells sold at grocery stores and retail outlets. He says the process of disconnecting the old one and connecting the new one will take about 90 seconds. [A]n independent evaluation by the UK Trade and Investment agency in 2017 said Jackson's invention was a "very attractive battery" based on "well established'" technology, and that it produced much more energy per kilogram than standard electric vehicle types, according to a report in the Daily Mail. A Tesla Model S can drive up to 370 miles on a single charge. Jackson says if you drove the same car with an aluminum-air cell that weighed the same as the Tesla's lithium-ion battery, it would have a range of 2,700 miles. Aluminum-air cells also take up less space. If that same Tesla were fitted with an aluminum-air fuel cell the same size as its current battery, it could run non-stop for 1,500 miles. The report goes on to say that Jackson just signed a multi-million dollar deal with Austin Electric, which will begin putting thousands of the batteries into electric vehicles next year. "Austin Electric has three targets for the new batteries -- the three-wheeled tuk-tuks used for transportation in many countries such as Pakistan, electric bicycles with far more range than current models, and a program that will convert front wheel drive cars with internal combustion engines into hybrids by fitting aluminum-air batteries and motors to drive the rear wheels," reports CleanTechnica. "Jackson expects the conversion operation to start next year. He says the cost of each conversion will be [...] about $4,000."

Motherboard reports: On October 17th, To the Stars joined forces with the Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command, a research and development body. While To the Stars has made recent headlines with its UFO themed content, such as its acquisition of "exotic" materials which it claims are not from Earth, and videos acquired from the Navy purporting to show unidentified anomalous phenomena, this recent deal with the military portrays a different side of To the Stars: as a potential technology company. In recent months, DeLonge's organization has made a big deal out of obtaining those "exotic" metals that it believes may come from UFOs. Though the contract doesn't specifically mention the origin of any of those metals, it does say that To the Stars and the U.S. Army will use government labs to study "meta materials," which could refer to these alloys. "Government shall: Perform assessments, testing, and characterization of Collaborator-provided technologies. The Government is interested in a variety of the Collaborator's technologies, such as, but not limited to inertial mass reduction, mechanical/structural meta materials, electromagnetic meta material wave guides, quantum physics, quantum communications, and beamed energy propulsion," the contract states. The contract lasts for five years. The government isn't paying TTSA anything, rather, it is agreeing to collaborate with TTSA on researching new technologies and has committed to spend at least $750,000 on the research.

HireVue's "AI-driven assessments" have become so pervasive in some industries, including hospitality and finance, that universities make special efforts to train students on how to look and speak for best results. More than 100 employers now use the system, including Hilton, Unilever and Goldman Sachs, and more than a million job seekers have been analyzed. "It's a profoundly disturbing development that we have proprietary technology that claims to differentiate between a productive worker and a worker who isn't fit, based on their facial movements, their tone of voice, their mannerisms," said Meredith Whittaker, a co-founder of the AI Now Institute, a research center in New York. "It's pseudoscience. It's a license to discriminate," she added. "And the people whose lives and opportunities are literally being shaped by these systems don't have any chance to weigh in."

OK, ok, slight exaggeration - voting in a secession referendum is illegal, says Spain to Catalonia. Since only States are sovereign, and not people (say the States), secessionist referenda are illegal. And besides, it's for your safety. Crimea is a case in point - with a few million bullets fired, blood on the streets and carnage the world has rarely seen, Crimeans paid a high price for the reuniting with Russia. Oh, it didn't quite go like that? Oh well, you know, voting is illegal and all... and the State of Ukraine murdering it's own people in a genocidal attempt to cause them to "reunite" with the other land, we have a prime example of why the State must, at all times, be granted ultimate sovereignty, and the people must be dominated with bullets. And missiles. And land mines, shelling, RPGs and everything else the state can muster, to establish order in the world. "Democracy" loving Westerners both decry the Crimean's zero bullet referendum (what a concept), whilst demanding the USA's "God" given right to impose "democracy" by missile upon any unsuspecting nation State that has some excess oil. Or lots of non-excess oil that the USA wants. Or other resources... And on and on the Western "moral high ground" hypocrisy goes... Cue another ridiculous jnn rant in 3 ... 2 ... Metrics are needed to try to determine when peer nodes are compromised or active attacking vs when they are behaving "well", and these metrics are relevant over time. Example metrics we may need, in order to make reasonable decisions and to analyze peer nodes: - packet latency - "problematic" latency behaviour should be automatic kick - packet size, frame size, or MTU, to optimize links and routes - any deviation from the core IQNets protocol - some deviations should be "automatic kick", others not so much - uptime, or rather "connectedness" - it's ok to only be on the net when your phone's on, but it's absolutely not OK to be offline for random periods of seconds or minutes - such nodes must be kicked
