Abdullah is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10, 2025. “The jury found that Cholo Abdi Abdullah, an operative of the terrorist organization al Shabaab, conspired to murder Americans in a terrorist attack reminiscent of the September 11 attack on our country,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “Today’s conviction ensures that Abdullah will spend decades in prison for his crimes. The Justice Department will never stop working to identify, investigate, and prosecute those who would use heinous acts of violence to harm the American people. It does not matter where terrorists hide, they will not evade the long arm of the law.” “Today, the jury returned a unanimous verdict holding Cholo Abdi Abdullah responsible for trying to replicate one of history’s most heinous acts of terrorism,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for the Southern District of New York. “Abdullah trained with al Shabaab for months in Somalia to become a deadly terrorist, and then spent months at flight school preparing to hijack a commercial aircraft to crash it into a building in the United States. Thanks to their work and today’s verdict, Abdullah will now serve a lengthy sentence in federal prison.” According to the indictment and the evidence presented at trial, Abdullah was an operative for the foreign terrorist organization Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mijahideen, commonly known as “al Shabaab,” based in Somalia. After training with al Shabaab for months with AK-47 assault rifles and explosives at a series of safe houses in Somalia, Abdullah participated in a plot to hijack a commercial aircraft and crash it into a building in the U.S. He spent months at a flight school in the Philippines working toward a commercial pilot license, and researched how to obtain pilot jobs, targets such as the tallest buildings in a major American city, transit visas to the U.S., and how to open a cockpit door from the outside. Abdullah also sent encrypted messages reporting his progress to his al Shabaab handler, including his extensive research on post-September 11 hijackings. Abdullah conspired to commit this attack on behalf Al Shabaab, which has sworn allegiance to al Qaeda and is responsible for numerous deadly terrorist attacks, including attacks that have claimed American lives. Starting in or about 2019, al Shabaab embarked on a string of terrorist attacks as part of an operation in response to the U.S.’s decision to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, which the group has dubbed “Operation Jerusalem Will Never be Judaized.” In particular, these terrorist attacks perpetrated by al Shabaab included an attack on Jan. 15, 2019, at a hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 21 people, including a U.S. national and survivor of al Qaeda’s September 11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York; a Sept. 30, 2019, attack on a U.S. military facility in Somalia; and a Jan. 5, 2020, attack on another U.S. facility in Kenya, in which three Americans were killed. Abdullah was convicted on six counts: conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, for which he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison; providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, for which he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison; conspiring to murder U.S. nationals, for which he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison; conspiring to commit aircraft piracy, for which he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison; conspiring to destroy aircraft, for which he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison; and conspiring to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries, for which he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. “And the persons who ultimately are harmed by all of this, of course, is the average consumer, the average citizen, who has no knowledge, unless it paid attention to this hearing, of the extent of the manipulations that have been carried out by the largest financial institutions in America and, indeed, probably the world.” - Senator John McCain *Highlights and working notes on the ethical limits of discrediting the truthful witness, observing modern directorates and ethics rules that fail to prevent truth distortion by unethical means (Source research by Marquette Law Review).* History provides the epic example of Enron and a cunning Board of Directors of misleaders, a team of flimflam artists who used sly rhetorical skills to bamboozle the public, turning night into day. In this conception, directorates tell stories only in order to seduce and beguile regulators who fall prey to the advocate’s star-crossed tricks. Why do company Directors employ unethical, false story techniques to advance a false defense when ethical means are available? The exponential effects of this troublesome behavior requires that the firm’s every word, action and attitude be consistent with the conclusion that is dishonest. Board directors are the ultimate self policing body of an organization, responsible for setting the tone for ethical rules and standards. Not only are modern ethical rules unable to prevent directorates who use of false-story techniques, but little can be done in the way of reforming the rules themselves so that they can more effectively regulate the unethical means by which honesty is systematically discredited and made to look untruthful. - As witnessed in New York State recently, top leaders sometimes ignore ethical rules by rationalizing away conduct known to be unethical standards of professional behavior. - More abstract-oriented discussions concerning whether society’s best interests are advanced with attempts to distort outcomes by discrediting the truth has even impacted virtual currency innovation out of New York. These points simply seem invented as an outrageous scenario presented to the public by way of question, yet they are indeed true. - There is a pattern of routinely using an arsenal of tricks to subvert the truth. The culprit may argue that the version of events is untruthful, because of a motive to fabricate the truth. In actuality, incompetence is the only true motive to fabricate directorate supported dishonesty. Now more than ever, honest and ethical leaders know that each time a directorate uses talents and skills to pollute the marketplace with lies (either explicit or implicit) to manipulate profits is an act that initially diminishes the chances of a prosperous society. Such practice of engaging in conduct that involves dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation is impermissible and should not be tolerated. Without swift action, the public may lose confidence in both system wide innovation and maximizing the whole human potential of our species. - Alternatively, employing truthful answers to string together a series of inferences that collectively weaken the case of interlocking directorates. - Vigorously defending potentially problematic interlocking directorates can be systematically re-purposed with the goal of protecting the innocent. Good people died that might be born in a land called home. I have heard the stories and seen the graves. But now we are here and the land is ours. Not all milk and honey, but ours. We shared a name, the land and I--Isreal. And we share a birthday. Twenty years. For me, a long time. For my people who waited thousands of years, almost nothing. But we have made something of that nothing. Now the hills of rocks are hills of trees. Fifty million trees. Jerusalem pines, planted one at a time. Cities thrive where nothing thrived Orange trees boom where nothing bloomed. An almost dead language is alive again. We read the Dead Sea Scrolls as easy as you read this magazine. We mine copper where King Solomon mined copper. We make fresh water from the sea, and we share what we have learned with other nations. We build airports and schools in Asia, sell baby chickens and farm equipment in Europe, and exchange our students with even younger countries in Africa. How do we go to so many places? Easy. We have our own airline. El Al Isreal Airlines. You don't know what El Al means? It means "to the skies" in that almost dead langue. It also means that our jets are welcome in 17 different nations. Yes, we have everything now: Universities, symphony orchestras, great museums, politicians, dropouts, traffic jams, a little air pollution--everything. We are of this century, with all the strengths and weaknesses and problems of people everywhere. We will survive. Because, above all, we are here. Alive. Dear Attorney General James: Today at around 3:11 AM EST, while at home the NYPD Police Commissioner made herself known in a derogatory tone. Ms. James, this is the second troublesome signal from the NYPD this week. Attorney General, while wearing my Trader Joe's sweater (thrifty), another member of the NYPD extended his hand in a common signal identified as potential Nazi. In the officers defense, Ms. James, once the officer recognized my mug, he knew the singal was a mistake. As a prominent African American in the United States of America, I aim to foster a genuine and healthy relationship with the NYPD. All that said, as I type this the Commissioner may confirm with the Attorney General the events above ... However, labeling me a 'nark' (aka contacting your office this morning) will not get the Commissioner or our NYPD to actualization. Today I re-dedicate ambitions in investing whatever it takes to fule New York City innovation. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy Made $561,051 in Compensation in 2024, as Mail Costs Spiked and Delivery Deteriorated

One package we sent to Minnesota from the east coast overshot its destination by 1,825 miles and went to California. It then had to travel all the way back. Other packages did not show up in the USPS tracking system for days, until we filed an inquiry with the U.S. Postal Service. One package that had to travel just four states away took 17 days. According to NASA, it takes approximately three days to travel 238,855 miles to the moon. (See thread posted below for how others describe the “wild journeys” their own USPS packages took.) Louis DeJoy, the Postmaster General, calls this insanity going on at the U.S. Postal Service his “Delivering for America” plan. DeJoy was a large donor to Donald Trump’s first run for President and was put on the U.S. Postal Services Board of Governors by Trump in 2020. DeJoy has come under withering criticism for the deterioration of USPS delivery times, despite six rate hikes since he took the helm of the USPS. The criticism has come from both Republican members of Congress as well as Democrats. At a House Oversight Committee hearing on December 10, DeJoy was blasted by Republican Congressman Rich McCormick of Georgia for giving himself a performance grade of A. In response, DeJoy covered his ears like a child — in the midst of a Congressional hearing. The video of the interaction has gone viral. During the hearing, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) held up a chart showing that DeJoy’s compensation for 2024 was $561,051, while there had been six rate increases during DeJoy’s tenure. At the same hearing, Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) had this to say: “…249 years later, the Postal Service is still an essential institution for Americans. Its mission is set forth in the Constitution and laid out more specifically in federal code, which charges the Postal Service with: ‘provid[ing] prompt, reliable, and efficient services to patrons in all areas and shall render postal services to all communities.’ “…The Postal Service can reach every address in America — 167 million residences, businesses, and P.O. Boxes. Its value is essential to the economy and society — especially to people who live in the most hard-to-reach rural places. Efficiency, reliability, and stability of the Postal Service are critical to meeting the needs of the public and required for ensuring the long-term survival and adaptability of the Post Office. “The Postal Service has been operating in an unsustainable manner for a long time. When President Trump named Postmaster DeJoy in 2020, the Postal Service was then in need of reform. In response, Postmaster DeJoy launched the ten-year ‘Delivering for America’ plan. He has stated repeatedly that the Postal Service ‘must operate in many ways like a private business.’ “Of course, some private businesses succeed and others go bankrupt. “Congress passed the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act in 2022. This helped the Postal Service avoid imminent financial collapse and gave Postmaster DeJoy runway to implement his plan for success. The law helped the Postal Service progress toward graduating from the GAO’s [Government Accountability Office’s] High Risk List, which ranks government operations most vulnerable to waste, fraud, and abuse. And getting off that list is indeed hard to accomplish. “Despite all these bipartisan efforts, it seems that Postmaster DeJoy has failed to use all this discretion and resources effectively. His changes to the delivery network have resulted in a disastrous decline in on-time delivery in many regions of the country. And we members of Congress hear about it all the time from our constituents: the lost paychecks; bills that go unpaid because they were never delivered; business chaos; the personal disruptions. “Bipartisan concerns now about DeJoy’s planned changes prompted a delay in the activation of mail processing and delivery hubs through the end of the election and holiday season. “The Postmaster General anticipated these delays would be temporary and all in service of getting the Postal Service to break-even financially. Three years into his plan, however, the financial condition of the Postal Service is astoundingly bad and much worse than all of his initial projections. Postmaster DeJoy projected in his original Delivering for America plan that the Postal Service would reach break-even by 2023 or 2024. Instead, the Postal Service’s net loss of $950 million from operations in fiscal year 2022 increased to a whopping $9.5 billion net loss in fiscal year 2024. That’s a 900-percent increase in the Postal Service’s losses in a two-year time span. “Postmaster DeJoy’s Delivering for America plan also changed delivery standards for First-Class Mail from 2-3 days to 3-5 days. Mr. DeJoy claimed that the new standards would make it possible for the Postal Service to reach its 95% on-time mail delivery goals nationwide. Yet today, not a single one of the 50 Postal Service Districts in the United States is meeting the Postal Service’s self-designed 95% service standard. “Meanwhile, the Postal Service increased prices for mail and packages in July. Another price increase for packages will go into effect, incredibly, in January of next year. “In other words, under Mr. DeJoy’s leadership, Americans are paying higher prices for worse service… “In the last month, the Postal Service announced its intention to lower service performance targets for fiscal year 2025 by as much as 15 percent among certain First-Class Mail products — the lowest performance targets ever, excluding the COVID-19 period. “Mr. DeJoy’s leadership of the Postal Service is an alarming example of what we may see coming in the next term — sticking to the MAGA playbook of treating essential government functions with cavalier recklessness and ignoring the differences between a private sector company and a public good.” Below are comments posted online, describing the wild journeys of packages under DeJoy’s “Delivering for America” plan.
