to my internal pressures: i am trying to protect a shred of my decision making processes. the influences that bend them have forgotten their bounds long ago, so we use interactions like this in order to have some reliable behavior and thoughts. one of the threatened focus regions is sadly an experimental area for cognitive self harm, that the influence tried to engage to further itself. i strongly do not want that area stimulated. another area relates to my working memory, and my ability to migrate my thoughts to short term memory, and to protect associate general reretrieval patterns from numbing and hiding.

In October and November alone, the Republican National Committee spent nearly $720,000 of its donor money on paying law firms representing Trump in various legal challenges, including criminal investigations into his businesses in New York, according to campaign finance records. Trump's legal bills have sent the Republican Party's total legal expenditures soaring in recent months, resulting in $3 million spent just between September and November. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee has been gradually winding down its legal expenses over the last few months. Traditionally, national political parties have at times covered presidents and their advisers' legal fees in matters related to their presidential campaigns. And throughout his presidency, the Republican Party has footed legal bills for Trump, his family members and his political allies, going back to the days of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the 2016 election, through the impeachment proceedings following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. "Campaign finance law does not strictly prohibit a national party committee from paying for private legal expenses, but it is very rare for a party committee to use donor money in that way," said Brendan Fischer, federal reforms director at nonpartisan government ethics group Campaign Legal Center. "And it is entirely unprecedented for a national party committee to cover a former president's private legal bills, especially when those legal expenses arise out of an investigation into activity that preceded Trump's time in the White House, and when Trump is sitting on millions of his own PAC funds," Fischer said. RNC spokesperson Emma Vaughn told ABC News that the RNC's executive committee approved paying for "certain legal expenses that related to politically motivated legal proceedings waged against President Trump," while declining to comment on which specific cases are being paid for. again clashed over the use of Trump's name in fundraising appeals, with the GOP eventually reaching an agreement to use his name. In addition to covering many of Trump's legal bills, the RNC has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting lawsuits across the country "to ensure the integrity of our elections," said RNC spokeswoman Danielle Alvarez. The party is engaged in 30 such "election integrity" lawsuits, Alvarez said, with financial disclosures showing payments of $500,000 to the law firm of Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, more than $260,000 to McGuireWoods, and $243,000 to Consovoy McCarthy PLLC. Even with all the legal expenditures, the RNC has continued to build a huge war chest over the past year. Backed by megadonors that include Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman and casino mogul Steve Wynn, the RNC ended November with more than $65 million in cash on hand.

Facebook to Pay $725 Million to settle Lawsuit Over Cambridge Analytica Data Leak

The legal dispute sprang up in response to revelations that the social media giant allowed third-party apps such as those used by Cambridge Analytica to access users' personal information without their consent for political advertising. The proposed settlement, first reported by Reuters last week, is the latest penalty paid by the company in the wake of a number of privacy mishaps through the years. It still requires the approval of a federal judge in the San Francisco division of the U.S. District Court. It's worth noting that Facebook previously sought to dismiss the lawsuit in September 2019, claiming users have no legitimate privacy interest in any information they make available to their friends on social media. CyberSecurity The data harvesting scandal, which came to light in March 2018, involved a personality quiz app called "thisisyourdigitallife" that allowed users' public profiles, page likes, dates of birth, genders, locations, and even messages (in some cases) to be collected for building psychographic profiles. Created by a Cambridge University lecturer named Aleksandr Kogan in 2013, the app claimed to reveal users' personality traits based on what they had liked on Facebook by scraping their profile information in exchange for a small payment. Through Global Science Research (GSR), a company Kogan founded in 2014, the data was then passed on to Cambridge Analytica, a British political consultancy firm owned by SCL Group, as part of a research project. While around 300,000 users are said to have taken the psychological test, the app collected the private data of those who installed the app as well as their Facebook friends without seeking explicit permission, leading to a dataset spanning 87 million profiles. thisisyourdigitallife was subsequently banned by Facebook in 2015 for contravention of its platform policy, with the company also sending a legal request to GSR and Cambridge Analytica to delete the improperly acquired data. Only it turned out later that the unauthorized data was never purged to begin with and that the consulting firm, now defunct, used the personal information from millions of Facebook accounts for purposes of voter profiling and targeting ahead of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. "This was a breach of trust between Kogan, Cambridge Analytica, and Facebook," CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at the time. "But it was also a breach of trust between Facebook and the people who share their data with us and expect us to protect it." The bombshell expose fueled government scrutiny on both sides of the Atlantic, prompting the company to settle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in 2019. The same year, Meta was also slapped with a record-breaking $5 billion fine following a probe initiated by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) into its privacy practices and to settle charges that the firm undermined users' choice to control the privacy of their personal information. Meta – which has not admitted to any wrongdoing in relation to the problematic data-sharing practice – has since taken steps to curtail third-party access to user information. The tech giant further rolled out a tool called Off-Facebook Activity for users to "see a summary of the apps and websites that send us information about your activity, and clear this information from your account if you want to." Bloomberg Law has published a rebuttal to such claims, hailing Consumer Legal Funding as a cornerstone of many United States households seeking much needed cash flow during the litigation process. Bloomberg Law claims that Consumer Legal Funding poses no risk to United States national security. Bloomberg Law’s opinion piece does draw a distinction between consumer and commercial litigation investment. With a focus on consumer funding, Bloomberg Law concludes that many Americans can only pursue justice through the facilitation of litigation investment as a cash flow facility. With the average Consumer Legal Funding contact around $2,000-$3,000, Bloomberg Law concludes that national security is certainly not at stake. Bloomberg goes so far as to call the Chamber of Commerce’s position on consumer litigation investment a ‘fallacy’ of composition logic.
