Bakunin describes what a putrid "Net State " might look like
by pro2rat＠yahoo.com.au 04 Mar '24

04 Mar '24

>From 1872! The reasoning of Marx ends in absolute contradiction. Taking into account only the economic question, he insists that only the most advanced countries, those in which capitalist production has attained greatest development, are the most capable of making social revolution. These civilized countries, to the exclusion of all others, are the only ones destined to initiate and carry through this revolution. This revolution will expropriate either by peaceful, gradual, or by violent means, the present property owners and capitalists. To appropriate all the landed property and capital, and to carry out its extensive economic and political programs, the revolutionary State will have to be very powerful and highly centralized. The State will administer and direct the cultivation of the land, by means of its salaried officials commanding armies of rural workers organized and disciplined for this purpose. At the same time, on the ruins of the existing banks, it will establish a single state bank which will finance all labor and national commerce. It is readily apparent how such a seemingly simple plan of organization can excite the imagination of the workers, who are as eager for justice as they are for freedom; and who foolishly imagine that the one can exist without the other; as if, in order to conquer and consolidate justice and equality, one could depend on the efforts of others, particularly on governments, regardless of how they may be elected or controlled, to speak and act for the people! For the proletariat this will, in reality, be nothing but a barracks: a regime, where regimented workingmen and women will sleep, wake, work, and live to the beat of a drum; where the shrewd and educated will be granted government privileges; and where the mercenary-minded, attracted by the immensity of the international speculations of the state bank, will find a vast field for lucrative, underhanded dealings. There will be slavery within this state, and abroad there will be war without truce, at least until the “inferior” races, Latin and Slav, tired of bourgeois civilization, no longer resign themselves to the subjection of a State, which will be even more despotic than the former State, although it calls itself a People’s State. Mikhail Bakunin 1872 The reasoning of Balaji also immediately ends in absolute contradiction. https://marxwords.blogspot.com/ New Statesman Balaji Srinivasan, venture capitalist and former CTO of Coinbase, has highlighted the real purpose of Bitcoin and its implications for geopolitical and financial issues. Srinivasan stated that Bitcoin at its core is a “political revolution,” because it challenges the centralized states’ business model, and the change brought by it will be fought by states who will try to seize it.

Mezcal Popularity Could Mean Another Tequila Boom for Mexico https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2024-mexico-mezcal-agave/?ai=eyJpc1N1YnN… THE ROAD from Oaxaca City to Santiago Matatlán winds through the vast central valley of Oaxaca, an arid plain walled by scrub-colored hills. You’ll know you’re getting close when rows of what look like giant green anemones stitch their way through the browned landscape. This is agave, the spiky succulent used to make tequila and mezcal. A miraculous plant, agave can grow in the driest environments with no need for irrigation, and it’s provided food, fiber and intoxication to Mexico’s Indigenous peoples for thousands of years.

Can the Masters of Hipster Cringe Conquer Hollywood With Wall Street Cash? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2024-02-22/a24-movies-become-privat… Over the years, indie film companies have tackled freakish cultural abnormalities, from unutterable sexual taboos to all manner of other transgressive topics. But not long ago, executives at A24, arguably the reigning champion of American art-house films—which recently put out a movie called Dicks: The Musical that featured a flying, animated vagina—attempted to do something truly beyond the pale by even the libertine standards of its cohort. A24 pursued a deal to make league-sanctioned films for the NFL. “For us, it was like, how do you take this thing that’s so well established and so Americana and have an A24 look and vibe?” says A24’s head of TV and nonfiction, Ravi Nandan, without irony.

On Bump Stocks, the Supreme Court Is Divorced From Reality https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2024-03-02/supreme-court-bump-st… Every so often, a Supreme Court oral argument is so divorced from reality that even a seasoned court-watcher like myself finds it jaw-dropping. The court’s consideration of whether the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was right to define guns equipped with bump stocks as machine guns was exactly that shocking.

The floodgates of cryptoanarchy

The floodgates of cryptoanarchy The United States has historically taken a firm stance against the crypto industry, hindering its growth for years. However, Lubin believes that the decision to impede the industry’s progress may no longer rest solely in the hands of policymakers. “I think the momentum is picking up, and it’s unstoppable,” he said. Abandon trust all ye who enter here He emphasized that crypto was born into an era of constrained and controlled money, but it offers a paradigm shift towards decentralized trust, a concept that had never been seen before Texas Blockchain Massacre In a landmark ruling, the Texas Blockchain Council (TBC) and Riot Platforms Inc. have triumphed in their lawsuit against the Biden administration, successfully halting the data collection efforts on bitcoin mining operations! https://cryptonews.com/news/ethereum-co-founder-joe-lubin-bullish-on-crypto… “We are in this 4th turning, and we are ready for a new system of the world,” he said when asked about the catalyst for the next super cycle. Roll on the revolution.

Wet Blanket Buttface not a cypherpunks arsehole

A memecoin could be the next edollar to big gods egold. Anythings fungible when everthing is negotiable. Now try telling that to political morons like Balaji and Butthead! Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience I am not making global anarchist revolution for anything resembling business as usual. " WE MEAN IT Ma . . AAAN!"
