I’m Elizabeth Kim, a politics reporter in the newsroom covering mayoral power. I’ve covered Eric Adams for several years, from his rise as a mayoral candidate to his latest crisis as an indicted mayor. In my coverage, I strive to explain both the politics and the policy and reveal the levers of power in the city that shape the day-to-day lives of New Yorkers. That means my reporting takes me beyond the walls of City Hall and into communities where I hear from listeners and readers like you. A crucial part of the funding enabling me to do this work comes from readers like you <https://click.lists.wnyc.org/?qs=39ede9cc978972c76c43980529a70b2bd63ab1b438…> who fund our non-profit newsroom 🤍 DONATE HERE <https://click.lists.wnyc.org/?qs=39ede9cc978972c7627f8b357b5cf0099d0445982d…> By far, New York City’s biggest political story of the year was Adams’ indictment on federal corruption charges. My role has been to guide you through the scandal and explain how it affects his ability to govern. My colleagues and I have covered some important stories: - Our senior reporter, Brigid Bergin, broke a story about major discrepancies in Adams’ fundraising that have been at the center of some of the investigations. - David Brand, Jon Campbell, and Charles Lane peeled back the curtain on a Turkish construction firm that raised money for the mayor but avoided disclosing the donations. - I reported on a private gathering the mayor held with tech founders last winter that gave an inside peek into how he’s raising money for his legal defense fund. These are just a few powerful examples of how our newsroom works together to tell the full story of an important issue that affects New Yorkers. But, we need your support <https://click.lists.wnyc.org/?qs=39ede9cc978972c72634c84710c55de5bebb57d5ff…> as we plan for our reporting and coverage in the year ahead. One attorney is perhaps "the preeminent SCOTUS advocate." And one may soon become U.S. solicitor general, despite acknowledging there are "judges out there who don't like me."
