http://kdvr.com/2015/03/11/mysterious-spy-cameras-collecting-data-at-post-o… DENVER -- Within an hour of FOX31 Denver discovering a hidden camera, which was positioned to capture and record the license plates and facial features of customers leaving a Golden Post Office, the device was ripped from the ground and disappeared. FOX31 Denver investigative reporter Chris Halsne confirmed the hidden camera and recorder is owned and operated by the United State Postal Inspection Service, the law enforcement branch of the U.S. Postal Service. The recording device appeared to be tripped by any vehicle leaving the property An alert customer first noticed the data collection device, hidden inside a utilities box, around Thanksgiving 2014. It stayed in place, taking photos through the busy Christmas holidays and into mid-January. Managers inside the post office tell FOX31 Denver they were unaware customers were being photographed outside and that the surveillance was not part of the building’s security monitoring. https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/why-american-farmers-are-hacking… Right to Repair Why American Farmers Are Hacking Their Tractors With Ukrainian Firmware A dive into the thriving black market of John Deere tractor hacking. To avoid the draconian locks that John Deere puts on the tractors they buy, farmers throughout America's heartland have started hacking their equipment with firmware that's cracked in Eastern Europe and traded on invite-only, paid online forums. Tractor hacking is growing increasingly popular because John Deere and other manufacturers have made it impossible to perform "unauthorized" repair on farm equipment, which farmers see as an attack on their sovereignty and quite possibly an existential threat to their livelihood if their tractor breaks at an inopportune time. "When crunch time comes and we break down, chances are we don't have time to wait for a dealership employee to show up and fix it," Danny Kluthe, a hog farmer in Nebraska, told his state legislature earlier this month. "Most all the new equipment [requires] a download [to fix]." The nightmare scenario, and a fear I heard expressed over and over again in talking with farmers, is that John Deere could remotely shut down a tractor and there wouldn't be anything a farmer could do about it. A license agreement John Deere required farmers to sign in October forbids nearly all repair and modification to farming equipment, and prevents farmers from suing for "crop loss, lost profits, loss of goodwill, loss of use of equipment … arising from the performance or non-performance of any aspect of the software." The agreement applies to anyone who turns the key or otherwise uses a John Deere tractor with embedded software. It means that only John Deere dealerships and "authorized" repair shops can work on newer tractors. "If a farmer bought the tractor, he should be able to do whatever he wants with it," Kevin Kenney, a farmer and right-to-repair advocate in Nebraska, told me. "You want to replace a transmission and you take it to an independent mechanic—he can put in the new transmission but the tractor can't drive out of the shop. Deere charges $230, plus $130 an hour for a technician to drive out and plug a connector into their USB port to authorize the part." "What you've got is technicians running around here with cracked Ukrainian John Deere software that they bought off the black market," he added. "I take the hog waste and run it through an anaerobic digester and I've learned to compress the methane," he said. "I run an 80 percent methane in my Chevy Diesel Pickup and I run 90 percent methane in my tractor. And they both purr. I take a lot of pride in working on my equipment." "What happens in 20 years when there's a new tractor out and John Deere doesn't want to fix these anymore?"

This is so profound.. BTC ++++ / circle jerk matrix of a read, down the memory hole. (arnt' these beautiful) Theorem. The prime p is a unique prime of period n if and only if is a power of p where is the nth cyclotomic polynomial. It is possible to generalize this to other bases, and the generalized unique primes in base-x (any integer greater than one) are the prime factors of which do not divide x. Yet another tactic of the disruptor is to label your opposition as "conspiracy theorists" for daring to entertain possibilities like the one you just outlined. In so doing, the appeals court in Philadelphia avoided addressing a lower court's rejection of the defendant's argument that being forced to reveal his password violated his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination. In the case under review, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania held the defendant – referred to in court documents as "John Doe" because his case is partially under seal – in contempt of court for willfully disobeying and resisting an order to decrypt external hard drives that had been attached to his Mac Pro computer. The defendant's computer, two external hard drives, an iPhone 5S, and an iPhone 6 Plus were seized...... The US has slipped to 15th place in the World Happiness Report 2017, produced by the United Nations. The world's economic superpower is well behind top-ranked Norway, although it remains above Germany in 17th place, the UK in 19th, and France in 32nd. Norway knocked Denmark off the top spot as the world's happiest country, with Iceland and Switzerland rounding out the top four. The report's authors stress, however, that the top four are so close that changes are not statistically significant. The next tier of countries are regular leaders in international happiness surveys: Finland is in fifth place, followed by the Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden. The world's "unhappiest" countries are all in the Middle East and Africa: war-stricken Yemen and Syria feature in the bottom 10, with Tanzania, Burundi and Central African Republic making up the final three.

Re: Governance vs Decentralised Systems, Gold, Cash, Bitcoin
by grarpamp 21 Mar '17

21 Mar '17

There's certainly lots of real world governance models to try to draft and execute. Then there's another problem 1) Governance in the first place. and / or 2) That it's run by humans who are by nature corrupt. There could simply be some type of free for all network, new block refer to prior block, fork at will, solicit trust and longest chain adoption rather than sell it. Networks could be made to simply refuse to transact if parameters ever change... design it, launch it, and forget it, sink or swim. Users move their value from ship to ship. AI bots could execute within a novel network to - provide governance over humans, acceptance of patches. and or - adjust network paramaters by trial and error thus learning to solve its own problems. Some new networks may be created anonymously, where changes are locked to the anonymous creator by the AI. If creator disappears without key handoff, the net goes sink or swim at that point. Benevolent creator can quietly in safety cherry pick from some git repo community. Some users may just trust creator, or choose various creator nets that have some high vote% rollback and creator freeze options. Some many unexplored models and new ideas to yet come up with.
