We worked for Intel during some of the same times, but I was in Aloha Oregon, and I assume Tim May was in Santa Clara, California. (Unless Tim May at some point came to Oregon, I probably didn't meet him. I DID exhibit at the October 1983 West Coast Computer Faire, in San Francisco, well over a year after I left Intel.) Nor would Tim May have heard about me, while at Intel: I was a lowly Product Engineer for one of the first two self-refreshing DRAMs, mine was the 2186 8K by 8 "pseudostatic RAM". I had HEARD of Tim May: By the time I started at Intel, July 1980, May was already famous for having discovered that alpha-particles (nuclei of Helium-4 atoms) were the cause of soft-errors in DRAMs (Dynamic Random Access Memories) of that era. Take no prisoners in this regard - you cannot afford to put your life energy, your inspiration, your love and care, into deadweights. Know that you face setbacks, fears, all human frailties. Know that the universe will come to support, synchronicity may lift you in times of need, but always do your bit, exercise your own due diligence and walk your own talk. The world desperately needs those who can hold the long thought, sit calmly in the confidence of your end goal, with the strength of character and faith to weather the storms and setbacks. It is not someone else, neither the government (specially not the government :), nor your not-so-humble author, not "them" and not any one else at all, that can hold, nurture, and live, your dream! Politically Correct and Hypocrisy

Sometimes, I have very strong suicidal tendencies, because this hypocrite world, where everybody pretend being "politically correct" is _not_ the place where I want to live... Aff... :(( <http://atom-morgan.github.io/in-defense-of-douglas-crockford> I can mention the promiscuity in IT events or inside the Tor Project only because I am a poor Latin woman, a Nipo-Brazilian, an Oriental minority and female. If I was a white man, I would be publicly lynched and expulsed of all IT events. Wow! I want LGBTQ people and other minories feeling protected in IT events and hacker/makerspaces, but it's becoming ridiculous. Now, creating blogs and posts to destroy a reputation of a person instead using transparency and honesty, a mere talk, is the usual pattern? :-/ I love the freedom of expression and miss this right all the days, even and even more! All the words, even heavy bad words, can be used, because they only exist for being used! When do everybody become so touchy and sensitive? Hope the world becomes more rational and less hypocrite or, someday, I will be considered pedophile when simply breastfeeding my babies. You know, little children sucking breasts... Very indecent this! :P Aff... I know I will receive a lot of kicks for this message, but we already talked about how the moral judgements are being more unfair nowadays. It's just another chapter, with another IT white man. Kisses and love for everybody, even knowing that 2/3 of you will think it's a sin or not politically correct! Functionality (and the complexity that comes with it) is the enemy of security and it is very clear that the public places a much higher value on functionality than it does on security (or privacy). Every time a new device comes onto the market, it starts with limited functionality and some hope of decent security but rapidly evolves to be a high functionality product in which the prospect of decent security declines rapidly to zero. Raspberry Pis look interesting _now_ but I would be willing to bet that they won't buck the trend of increasing funtionality and declining security simply because this is what the majority in even this limited user community will want. To buck this trend we need an effort like the Raspberry Pi effort but one driven by our community with a strong commitment to simplicty and deliberately limited functionality in both hardware and software. In the process, he plotted several examples on a blackboard. “There is no reason why the simple shapes of stories can’t be fed into computers,” he said. “They are beautiful shapes.” The video is available on YouTube. Vonnegut was representing in graphical form an idea that writers have explored for centuries—that stories follow emotional arcs, that these arcs can have different shapes, and that some shapes are better suited to storytelling than others. Vonnegut mapped out several arcs in his lecture. These include the simple arc encapsulating “man falls into hole, man gets out of hole” and the more complex one of “boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl.” Vonnegut is not alone in attempting to categorize stories into types, although he was probably the first to do it in graphical form. Aristotle was at it over 2,000 years before him, and many others have followed in his footsteps. However, there is little agreement on the number of different emotional arcs that arise in stories or their shape. Estimates vary from three basic patterns to more than 30. But there is little in the way of scientific evidence to favor one number over another. Today (ed. Here in the future... -Rr), that changes thanks to the work of Andrew Reagan at the Computational Story Lab at the University of Vermont in Burlington and a few pals.
