Jonathan The room started to spin, and Jonathan put his hand on the edge of his desk, to steady himself. He realized that he had stopped breathing, and he inhaled mightily, causing the room to spin even more. After a few moments, the room stopped spinning, but Jonathan's mind continued to remain enmeshed in a conflicting whirl of old memories and new fears-all engendered by the receipt of a simple CyberPost. A CyberPost from the past. A hundred years in the past. A CyberPost which had shown up on his personal GraphiCube this morning, a century after being sent via an antiquated communications mode which the Masters of Antiquity called email. A CyberPost addressed to an anarchist organization that had been outlawed for over a hundred years-the CypherPunks. Jonathan had immediately, instinctively, hit the illegal kill-switch on his ground-connection and booted his Telsa Snarf Barrier. He had needed time to stop the room-and his mind-from spinning. But how long had he been sitting here, motionless? GlobeNet Security would be re-establishing his ground-connection in a matter of minutes and he would have to have an answer ready for his cutting of the ground-link to Headquarters. Jonathan hastily saved the CyberPost to a disposable HydroCube that he could swallow, if need be. He pulled an Insta-Log chip of his own making out from under his seat and placed it online, booting down the Telsa Snarf Barrier at the same time, just as the GraphiCube launched an overlay of the Day Monitor, Rabin. Rabin did not look happy. "Third time this week, Jonathan, what's going on?", Rabin's frown twitched with impatience. "If I have to put you on report, I can guarantee that you can kiss your HomeWork Privileges goodbye." "I'm still working on that InfoWar Scrambler Mechanism for GS-7, Rabin." Jonathan thought quickly, knowing that he was skirting the edge of disaster. "Those damn wanna-be programmers that you assholes keep hiring to keep your relatives happy don't know the difference between a Test-Boot and a Transmit-Boot." Jonathan paused, then added, "I don't need my head on a chopping block because Headquarters thinks that I'm launching my own Channel Revolution." "Then file for Offline Work Authorization." Rabin snapped. "Every goddamn time I work on this crap they feed me?" Jonathan snapped right back at him. "I'm not supposed to need to work off-line on this project. It's supposed to arrive at my station in Test mode, Rabin, not in Nuke Headquarters mode. Do you want me to run this shit from your HomeStation, instead?" Rabin laughed, for the first time, and glanced down at Jonathan's Log File once again, confirming that he had killed a transmission from the InfoWar Scrambler Mechanism. "OK, Jonathan, I'll kill the report, but try to work on that stuff during someone else's shift, pal. The brass is running us ragged on one of their interminable pet projects and we've got to account for every millisecond of CPU use. They've got a full-court press on this one, and we're having trouble keeping our GelMem from overheating." Jonathan paused for a second, his mind working swiftly, and then made a giant leap forward toward a destination that was only now beginning to take shape in his subconscious mind. "I could get you some spare cycles, Rabin, if you're really that desperate." Rabin began to speak, then stopped, obviously wondering what this generosity on Jonathan's part was going to 'cost' him, in the long run. "Look, Rabin," Jonathan continued, filling in the empty space, "I don't want to lose my HomeWork Privileges, and I know that you can't keep burying my ground-connection kills, so I might as well shut down for the day and spend some time at Headquarters getting this shit straight. That will free up eighteen GelMem units at GS-7 for you, and you can steal my HomeWork cycles until the end of your shift." Rabin looked thoughtfully at Jonathan, decided that Jonathan was working in his own self-interest and thus would not expect to extract future concessions for this gratuitous offering, and nodded agreement. "Done." said Jonathan as he shut down his Headquarters programs. "Besides," he said with a wink, "I need to restock my liquor cabinet and the Headquarters commissary is a damn-sight cheaper than what these local-yokels are gouging for a good bottle of booze around here." Toad.com Rabin's face faded from the screen, as Jonathan kicked in Privacy Mode and fell back into his chair with relief. He realized that he was shaking slightly, and his thoughts returned to the CyberPost which was now sitting in the HydroCube at the back of his desk. CypherPunks. Mere mention of the name in public came with a gold-plated guarantee of a visit from GlobeNet Security. Even when speaking of them in private conversation, it was advisable to do so only in historically proper context, referring to them as the villainous instigators of Channel War II. Jonathan avoided discussing the CypherPunks, even privately, because of the mixed emotions of fear, shame, and curiosity that the name aroused in him. His grandfather had been a CypherPunk, and had been executed at the close of Channel War II. Jonathan had vague memories of late-night visits by strangers whose spirited discussions were so curiously enlivening that he would often creep into his grandfather's study to listen, though he was far too young to understand exactly what it was that they were discussing. Then came the sound of jackboots on the door, and his grandfather handing him down to his father and mother in the cellar. The muffled shots that rang out as he was carried to the waiting RoboShuttle. The wetness of his mother's tears falling from her cheeks to his as she clutched him closely in their flight to obscurity. The graveled roughness of his father's voice as he prepared his family for the harsh changes ahead in a life where their heritage and their history must be hidden from one and all.=20 The CypherPunks had ruined Jonathan's life. [MONEY] - central banks defending Western assets against Chinese takeover

OK muffas, lotta folks missin the CB memo, from ZeroHedge to the JYT: Since the "Russia is the ultimate evil and Globalism is the greatest good ever" program has fallen with Trump (and Putin before and since) and the/his/our nationalist agenda (yeah, yeah, no doubt that was painful for the CBs - central bankers - of the world), at least they (the CBs) are defending Western assets against Chinese takeovers in the midst of all the fuss (this IS a fundamental global shift after all). So we can give them that credit point, and frankly, if they want to buy Amazon at $2,800 USD per share (!holy firetruck Batman!) and Tesla at circa $800 per share (damn cheap in comparison) then hey, a buy a day keeps the Chinks away, right? The Fed has once again managed to erase the larger market pain. This time it was not the standard correction that was erased, this time they erased a market crash as $NDX is trading at all time human history highs. I, for one, have to say I am surprised how effective central banks have been in squeezing markets higher again. I thought after 10 years of this monetary nonsense they would finally lose effectiveness in their ability to manipulate markets. Clearly I was wrong. But then I also didn’t see $3 trillion in Fed balance sheet expansion coming in a matter of a few months. So one has to clearly acknowledge central banks continue to hold complete control over these markets. But it comes at a price that will remain ignored for now, but nevertheless I’m aiming to highlight some of the issues I see. In my view central banks, in their quest to conduct a successful rescue operation, are killing the patient in the process. And nobody holds them to account, except some perplexed voices like myself are trying to at least raise the issues. (See also Stock Market Straight Talk) .. Mohammed El-Erian: "By contributing to higher wealth inequality and dragging the Fed deeper into “quasi fiscal” funding operations, the central bank also risks its credibility and political autonomy" ... What El-Erian is missing above is that the West is absolutely in an existential crisis: having plundered much of our Western manufacturing capacity straight into China for decades, which was literally for the huge economic (and Chinese wage serfs) arbitrage opportunity for Western (and of course Eastern) oligarchs, destroying much of Western employment and real wealth in the process, our oligarchs are now facing the truth of China's utterly nationalist China-First policy and China's willingness to break contracts, implicit or otherwise, even with the king makers. And that this China-First principle is so ingrained, it's not even "China's principle" - it is inherent in every Chinese national, it is almost the definition of being Chinese - "China, first! We Chinese are the superior race, you are but White trash of Asia." (Search it if you don't believe it and take a moment to grok..) Welp, as some anon said somewhere, "you don't double cross the world bankers and expect to come out unscathed," and it sure looks like China is about to learn this lesson in an entirely empirical way... and please, let's have compassion here - we ought wish the Chinese people the very best, to achieve their highest, to live great principles and dreams - just not at the cost of our own civilization, not at the cost of our own enslavement to them (nor to anyone else for that matter!). If the CBs were a little more honest about this final round of QE to infinity and beyond, rather than say things like "Fed Policies ‘Absolutely’ Don’t Add to Inequality", they'd instead say something like "Our globalist agenda went to shirt, we're now nationalising and saving all that we consider to be prime assets, from the Red regime - please try and be thankful already." Well, in this case, "Thank you Central Banks." Some of us can see that this is indeed a rescue program for the West itself. For this, I really am grateful, and shudder to think of life under the regime that executes you outside your office block in broad daylight to set an example to your coworkers if it thinks you're a spy. We don't want that, and we don't want that ruling over us, not in any form whatsoever. So again, thank you Central Bankers for bringing us back from the brink - please do stay the course. Here's the thing - between the Rothschilds, and the Chinese, I choose the Rothschilds every day! Now, yes, I can hear that at some level this may be a false dichotomy, but right at this moment in history the West is at crisis point in respect of China (!), and we were at a very dangerous cross roads, so let's be glad that at least our oligarchs noticed the bigger problem here. They might be sociopathic oligarchs, but they're OUR sociopathic oligarchs :) :/ :) hmmm... Now if only our gutless Aussie 'leaders' can get with the fine program, we could speed up our 'down under' ship and set course ahoy! (Our Labour/Green party is roughly equivalent to Democrats, and our Liberal/National roughly eq. to Republicans, and Labour seems to be mostly in control at the moment, especially at the state level, and it sure looks like they're bemoaning the loss of Globalism, AND evidently actually compromised to Chinese funding - change is tough, I really do get that, but in this case, we gotta change!) I am unsure if this mailing list still relates to the original Cypherpunk movement... Obviously it contains many inordinate messages containing vulgar terms. The NCRIC document confirms this and additionally reveals that the center owns surveillance technology it makes available to law enforcement agencies in its region. NCRIC is one of 78 fusion centers across the United States. Although states own and operate their fusion centers, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security facilitates and coordinates their activities. According to the DHS website, “The National Network of Fusion Centers is the hub of much of the two-way intelligence and information flow between the federal government and our State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) and private sector partners. The fusion centers represent a shared commitment between the federal government and the state and local governments who own and operate them.” The Tenth Amendment Center obtained NCRIC’s ALPR policy through a search of the BlueLeaks database. Distributed Denial of Secrets (DDoSecrets) published a 269-gigabyte collection of police department data that includes emails, memos, videos, audio files and law enforcement documents. In a tweet, DDoSecrets said the trove includes “ten years of data from over 200 police departments, fusion centers and other law enforcement training and support resources,”. The searchable database contains over 1 million files.

I recently experienced extreme trauma from being confronted with ideas that went against my own professed belief system. Someone recommended the CypherPunks list to me as a Safe Place to relax in my own skin and not feel threatened by strange, new ideas. It was nice of the person to suggest this would help me recover from my trauma, since, in the past, that person has just been a mean wise-guy toward me.
