Daniel Rothschild on the politicisation of everything: "the politicization of everything.. is unhealthy to our civic fabric" - [ENJOY] [PEACE]
by Zenaan Harkness 27 Oct '20

27 Oct '20

A very grounded, and very timely public letter on the hyper partisanship that one or two of us have noticed is doing the rounds these days: One Client Responds To "Vain, Narcissistic" CEO Of Expensify After Unsolicited Political Email https://www.zerohedge.com/political/one-client-responds-vain-narcissistic-c… Over the weekend we wrote about the CEO of San Francisco-based tech company Expensify - one of the world's largest providers of expense account software - and his decision to email the company's 10 million clients pleading with them to vote for Vice President Joe Biden. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/san-francisco-tech-ceo-emails-10-millio… ... Hi David, I'm writing about the unsolicited email that you sent last night to many of my colleagues - and, I gather, millions more users around the globe. Let me start by saying that I have no objection to you having strong feelings about politics. Those strong feelings are shared by many at the moment among partisans of all stripes. Supporters of President Trump and Vice President shared by many at the moment among partisans of all stripes. Supporters of President Trump and Vice President Biden both cast this election in apocalyptic terms, the result no doubt of strongly held feelings. My feelings on politics aren't as strong as yours. But I do have strong feelings about another matter: trust. For a variety of reasons, America is becoming a low-trust society. Conspiracy theories abound, relationships are breaking down on partisan lines, and the institutions that are critical to a free and open society are being undermined in many cases by their own actions that destroy trust. Your email contributes to this breakdown in social trust. David, we selected Expensify as a vendor based on trust - after all, you have financial information for us organizationally as well as the personal information of hundreds of my colleagues. You also have our email addresses. We trusted you with our private information. You have violated that trust. I also have strong feelings about another matter of public interest: the politicization of everything. A healthy society cannot exist if its political tribalism invades every aspect of commercial, civic, and community life. Team Red and Team Blue have gone from being who we vote for to, in many cases, lifestyle determinants. That is unhealthy to our civic fabric. And again, your email has exacerbated this. Until last night, I saw Expensify as a pioneering company that made my life a lot easier. Now, I see Expensify as a Team Blue company. To be clear, I'm not writing this as a member of Team Red. I'm not on that team. I'm not on any team. Millions of Americans are in the same boat. Frankly, we're sick and tired of partisans on both sides telling us that we need to ally ourselves with one team or another. And if I may be more blunt, we're especially tired of being told this by people who have built an app or look good on camera. You have no special insights on public policy or politics, and the fact you think we need to have your opinions placed in our inboxes is vain and narcissistic. David, last night you chose to violate the trust your company has built up and politicize your company. That is, I suppose, your right. But this country cannot endure without trust and apolitical spaces. And fixing these underlying issues is a far deeper and more important issue than the next election. Sincerely, Daniel Rothschild Well said Daniel! However, we suspect all David can think of are the stack of virtue-signaling points he achieved in the new social-credit-scoring system after The Great Reset.

Re: Why Equality Of Outcome Can Never, Ever Work -- Re: sexism - feminism - equality - empowerment - penis man - vaginas - bobs and vagene

> How does this subject land for you? What feelings are you trying to > get across with it? It lands as true, in many ways - in fact in all ways that I am able to discern, and this is in where I've read the whole thing, and listened to the Jordan Peterson video. And so I have to recommend Jordan Peterson again - some of JP's words have not entirely "gelled" for me, but the majority of what he says resonates really well for me, and to me is "spot on". So I can't recommend him enough... I'm actually not trying to get any feelings across - I'm hoping that some concepts get across to people, which they may not have thought about before. Without understand the problems and the causes of our problems, what hope have we to fix those problems? So fundamentally I am attempting to assist the conversation generally, for everybody. And I think this is one of the most powerful things we can do. > I expect the content to be pushing divisive politics. No - at least not from my perspective, not at all. It's about concepts, understanding, perceiving that which we have not seen before - and similarly, and perhaps more importantly, finding words and ways to speak these things which we are not taught about, and are otherwise not able to speak about. This is not at all about flinging mud, it's about having a conversation we desperately need to have. We have to start somewhere. > Outcome and opportunities really look basically the same to me; Well, that's not the case. Outcome is the result. Opportunity is the environment, the "rules", a level playing field - conceptually very different to outcome. > If you look at the reasons outcomes change, > undiscussed differences in opportunities show up. Here's where people often get all dichomatic - the false assertion that "it must be all the environment and luck". It's not, but it's also NOT not those things: It's both, all three, all four etc: - latent capacity/ abillity, genetics, shape of your vocal chords, length of your legs etc - luck - opportunity - environment of nurture, training, etc - internal characteristics like will, persistence, emotional temperament and more ... and as we progress through life, one or another of these facets of an individual and his/her environment, can impact, benefit or restrict, some other aspect(s). We are to at least some degree, authors of our own lives. AND we are to a degree a product of our environment. AND we are blessed, or challenged by our latent capacities. Once again, I must thank Cari for reminding us (for values of "us" corresponding to "me") of being conscious when we use dichotomies. > On Mon, Oct 26, 2020 at 1:02 AM Zenaan Harkness <zen(a)freedbms.net> wrote: > > > > A good summary for anyone who might've missed the memo on equality of outcome (equity) vs equality of opportunity: > > > > > > Why Equality Of Outcome Can Never, Ever Work > > Troy Smith via AmericanThinker.com > > https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/10/why_equality_of_outcome_can_ne… > > https://www.zerohedge.com/political/why-equality-outcome-can-never-ever-work > > > > In the early 20th century, in support of equality of outcome, Soviet > > communist dictator Vladimir Lenin coined the phrase, "Who, Whom." selfish yt-dl dmca drama
by Karl 26 Oct '20

Maybe I'm just not cut out for politics. My automated-friendly-hug bots always get labeled 'spam' or 'terrorist propaganda' before I make them. They're so important! A few weeks ago, my friend, who often has fbi agents follow him (that's where people get the federal business card bouquets, they ask the surveillance workers who are always nearby), shared a movie from youtube, to an anonymous e-mail list of people who may be in similar situations. Unfortunately, right after his share, the movie was censored on youtube to everyone in our country. Naturally (actually this is pretty rare for me nowadays), I downloaded the movie from another country using tor and youtube-dl (which required a small bit of hacking due to some bug), uploaded it to somewhere else, and shared it back so he could redistribute a working link, and because it's fun to try to productively and inspirationally push the edges of this unfortunately-deadly-for-other-people struggle, as I can't do much else with my life at this point. Yesterday, this same friend sent out another movie, also on youtube. This time, the youtube video was censored worldwide! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jq5bwI3j6g ) Not only that, as you may have heard, youtube-dl's source repository was issued a dmca takedown notice the very same day and is no longer easily accessible. The video is also missing on amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/95ers-Time-Runners-Alan-Peterson/dp/B00JP5R09K ) and other services; I haven't looked to see if these other unavailabilities are new or old. I eventually found the producer of the video on facebook, who raised it from a kickstarter, and messaged them. I eventually downloaded this movie from a very old torrent, which only went to 99.9% completion because I didn't hunt down the last few pieces. Torrents are so much more reliable than youtube. I haven't even watched it yet myself. Here it is on ipfs: https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmSwreXf9Jc2X4bZzBw1JT5LRDagsMJoZxUBEFC15UuHyW/95ers%2…

community-administrated servers
by Karl 26 Oct '20

To resolve server admins being targeted, -> set up a server -> run a simple wiki (preferably one users can fork; mediawiki has a basic poorly-maintained git remote that works enough) -> run a simple service that watches a page on the wiki for changes -> the service waits for the page to change, and then for that page to go for 1 day/week without changes (for it to stabilize), treats the content as an e.g. docker file, and uses it to run a user-defined service towards an end -> logs are publicized on the wiki doop-te-doo

Saw female reporter's nipple prominence and asked "is it cold in argentina?" https://sputniknews.com/viral/202001311078192175-is-it-cold-in-argentina-jo… Apparently, this is called sexism, not reporting - although I guess I was asking a question, but implicit in the question was a fact - if you looked, deep, enough. Got told I should get some sex-ism training. Absolutely frustrating. @SvenSpoormakers your comment is inappropriate. We are more than the clothes we wear. If you can't understand why your comment is inappropriate I suggest getting some training around sexism. — Michele Reid (@Bliss_On_Earth) January 30, 2020 https://twitter.com/Bliss_On_Earth/status/1222736807894241280?ref_src=twsrc… Sounded possibly kinky so I went along until I discovered that not only was it about some neo-linguistic cultural marxism, but absolutely no one had their nipples showing! Absolutely frustrating! Just looking at my bike on the balcony, thinking how much I love cycling and bam, yet again something happens to remind me that it is a great sport despite the people in it. Spoormakers needs to grow up. @SvenSpoormakers — Peter Warne (@pzwarne) January 30, 2020 https://twitter.com/pzwarne/status/1222874772452904960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw "Bam!" alright - there's a reason I love cycling, https://www.yandex.com/search/?text=cycling+love+seat Joyride: New Device Poised to Turn Bicycles Into Sex Machine https://sputniknews.com/society/202001301078181463-joyride-new-device-poise… ... but it's more along the lines of "I wonder, does a sex change actually "work"?" Our real concern of course is the NSA monitoring - completely illegally - our teledildonics metadata! Absolutely frustrating! Well, at least now that females are equal to males, including biologically, women are free to talk pub talk as much as the blokes are too ... right? I guess that's how the twitterati finally figured out the real problem with this female reporter - she was wearing, like, waaay too much, like (did I mention 'like'?): ... The sad part is that women take it all so seriously, like you're out in public without a chaperone already, surely that's enough to have a laugh? Or is it "have a laugh, but not when men crack a joke, because they're more equal than we are it's just not fair" ?? So, someone is upset that a woman is not wearing a bra, while reporting on an event which has 150 men, all of whom are not wearing underpants? — Girona Cycling (@GironaCycling) January 30, 2020 https://twitter.com/GironaCycling/status/1223018508306567171?ref_src=twsrc%… Listen hunni bunni sweeti pickle pie, it was humorous, and you're assuming upset? Experiencing a distinct lack of pickles in ya diet per'aps? Nipple up, buttercup :) Nice to see the sex is finally equal ... except for females who want privileges to not be commented on, whilst claiming all male pribileges. Absolutely frustrating - I'm just so, frustrated "just like a female" ... I guess :D Remember folks, penis = man, which is an extraordinarily powerful message - you see, penis power arises from being a man, and inherent with being a man, is having a penis - just ignore the statistically insignificant hermaphrodites for a moment: No Justice: Penis Man Taken Down by AR-15-Wielding SWAT Team http://dstormer6em3i4km.onion/no-justice-penis-man-taken-down-by-ar-15-wiel… (We can guess that expanding his message to be just -slightly- more factual (literally, factually inclusive) from "penis man" to "penis, man or hermaphrodite" wouldn't have had the same ring. +1 for confronting anti-CIS anti-factual bigots I guess... [Breaking News] [2020] [Covid] President Trump Tests Positive for Covid-19
by Se7en 26 Oct '20

26 Oct '20

The President of the United States, Donald John Trump, has tested positive for COVID-19. This is not a joke. Despite your views on current affairs, and the man himself, realize that the entire Executive Branch is potentially compromised at this time. The President, and several staff from Air Force One, have the Coronavirus. Even if you do not believe in its severity, this is a major political shakeup that could lead to foregin aggression by hostile nations, the collapse of the standing army, the complete break of the chain of command. You /do/ get sick when you get CoVid, but you recover. What happens when the president is incapacitated for 3 months? This is not alarmist, this is fact I have no further news to report. <https://nitter.net/realDonaldTrump/status/1311892190680014849> -- |-----/ | Se7en / The One and Only! | se7en(a)cock.email / | 0x0F83F93882CF6116 / | https://se7en-site.neocities.org

WikiLeaks: Snowden Given Permanent Resident Status by Russia

But the Russian authorities have given him the right to stay in Russia indefinitely. Edward J. Snowden speaking via video link at a conference in Berlin last year. Snowden, the former American intelligence contractor whose 2013 leaks of top-secret documents set off a worldwide debate about government surveillance, is now a permanent resident of Russia. Mr. Snowden, 37, has been living in exile in Moscow since 2013, when he fled to the Russian capital after giving journalists access to a trove of National Security Agency documents detailing the American intelligence service’s mass surveillance programs. On Thursday, the country’s immigration authorities granted Mr. Snowden permanent residency, his lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, wrote on Facebook. Mr. Kucherena posted a photograph of himself standing next to a smiling Mr. Snowden, in a dark red shirt and a black suit jacket, holding a blue, passport-style permanent residency document emblazoned with the Russian coat of arms. “People ask me if Edward is planning on getting Russian citizenship,” Mr. Kucherena wrote. “For now, he has not told me this. He describes his end goal as being a return to the United States, but only if he is guaranteed a fair trial.” There was no comment from Mr. Snowden himself on his newfound permanent residency. President Trump said in August that he would “take a very good look at” a pardon for the former intelligence contractor. Mr. Snowden told the German newspaper Die Zeit last month that he was encouraged by Mr. Trump’s comments, even if no pardon was imminent. “It’s a continued normalization of the conversation about this,” Mr. Snowden said, referring to a possible pardon in the United States. “Realistically, I think we are still early in the phase of that.” Changes last year to Russia’s immigration law that have made it easier for foreigners to get permanent residency cleared the path for Mr. Snowden to stay in the country for as long as he wanted. Several prominent Western supporters of President Vladimir V. Putin — including the American actor Steven Seagal and the French actor Gérard Depardieu — have already gone further and received Russian citizenship. But Mr. Snowden is a special case. He is both a living symbol of Mr. Putin’s relish in needling the United States and a hero to many who say he laid bare breathtaking abuse by American intelligence agencies of the power to monitor the online activity of people around the world. In Moscow, Mr. Snowden has led both a mysterious and active lifestyle. He keeps his specific location and movements a secret, but chimes in on online privacy issues on his Twitter account, published a memoir last year and, before the pandemic, often appeared at technology conferences via video link. He has married his American girlfriend, learned Russian and describes Moscow as a “beautiful city.” ImageMr. Snowden published a memoir last year. He has lived a private life in Moscow, but has also been active in debates on privacy issues. Mr. Snowden published a memoir last year. He has lived a private life in Moscow, but has also been active in debates on privacy issues.Credit...Justin Sullivan/Getty Images In the United States, intelligence officials and politicians from both parties have said Mr. Snowden was working with Russian intelligence agencies. Mr. Snowden has denied those accusations, and he has at times lobbed veiled criticism at Mr. Putin; after the poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Aleksei A. Navalny in August, Mr. Snowden on Twitter called it a possible “crime against the whole of Russia.” “The sad reality is that even in the United States, targeted killings are happening frequently,” Mr. Snowden elaborated in the interview with Die Zeit. “It’s just the means that’s different.” Mr. Snowden was referring to targeted killings of terrorism suspects around the world by American drones. Of Mr. Navalny’s case, Mr. Snowden said: “There needs to be an investigation, and anyone involved needs to go to jail.” The pandemic delayed Mr. Snowden’s residency permit application, his lawyer said, and it appears to have made the exile’s life in Moscow even more cloistered than it already was. When Moscow was under lockdown in April and May, the city authorities required residents to obtain a digital permit for almost any trip outside. Mr. Snowden told Die Zeit he never once sought such a permit because he disagreed with the government’s brute-force approach to keeping people inside their homes. “The politics of the place are as troubled as ever but the people are fundamentally good people,” Mr. Snowden said of Russia. “As I would say in many countries, it is never the people you have to worry about, it’s always the government.” Mr. Kucherena, Mr. Snowden’s Russian lawyer, is also chairman of the Public Chamber of the Russian Interior Ministry, which plays an advisory role with the country’s top law-enforcement body. On Thursday, alongside his note on Facebook announcing Mr. Snowden’s permanent residency, Mr. Kucherena also posted a picture of a gift he had received from his client to commemorate the occasion. It was a photograph of Mr. Snowden and Mr. Kucherena exiting the transit area of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo after Russia granted him asylum in August 2013. The photograph is captioned in Russian: “With thanks for the years of freedom.”

Internet censorship, including extorted by government, must cease.
by jim bell 24 Oct '20

24 Oct '20

This article https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzqniEaXwQg&feature=youtu.be has the headline: "Congressional Democrats Threaten Big Tech To Censor Americans Or Else" If this kind of government-threat can exist, then one solution is to declare that communications over the Internet within wires (and fibers) located within the United States are governed by the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Private companies are availing themselves of a system initiated by a relatively small amount of government research, and developed by other designers and manufacturers. If 'private companies' wish to communicate over systems OTHER THAN the "internet", they are free to design that system, implement it, and the First Amendment WON'T apply to them. I'm not sure that this would really qualify as a "libertarian solution", but it is dangerous that "government" is trying to extort organizations like Facebook and Twitter to engage in censorship. This possibility must cease. Jim Bell

While thankfully this example case did not involve anyone who is working toward actual liberation (found only in Libertarian Voluntaryism Anarchism), and the shop was not a malactor inserting backdoor APT's in the product and delivery stream (hello nasty TLA's and GovCorp spies), the message for LVA's is the same, never send your laptops in for repair... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwKCn8VYgFw Giuliani interviewed on background re Biden Laptops https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/10/larry-c-johnsons-amazing-interview… https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-biden-emails-computer-repair-store-… And of course massive censorship ensued performed by the heads of all the Centralised Biased Deep State GovCorp News and Social Media. Now we're gonna see some heads roll...
