In February 2002, he broke into the internal computer network of The New York Times, added his name to the internal database of expert sources, and used the paper's LexisNexis account to conduct research on high-profile subjects. He was convicted of compromising security at The New York Times, Microsoft*, and two other corporates. A Sunday morning story, September 8, 2002, in the New York Times made Powell's U.N. speech and the congressional debate much easier for the White House. Under the headline, “Threats and Responses: The Iraqis; U.S. Says Hussein Intensifies Quest for A-Bomb Parts,” a 3603 word story by Michael R. Gordon and Judith Miller detailed the administration’s bs case against Saddam Hussein related to weapons of mass destruction. Its interesting to speculate if Adrian could have exposed Gordon and Miller before he was caught. *Microsoft being a long time c-punk adversary

Later, the couple even mentioned that Adrian was wary of using his last name, and although he received numerous mysterious packages throughout his stay, they were always addressed to his middle name Adrian Alfonso. US: "Even if we lose, we can start again with Mr. Assange and issue another extradition request" -James Lewis QC today at the UK High Court on behalf of the US Government So they have a case against him for breaking-and-entering US-based computers ( or conspiracy to do so ) and some other case. So? Just from the public record anyone might infer Mr Assmange was more interested in espionage than journalism. Then ( again ) they got Al Capone for tax evasion. When a rotten criminal is loose practically all means are justified in stopping him. Such is the case here. The USG is not always wrong - Hell - even Hitler was sometimes correct. Even Stalin. Even Mao. Even Assmange. ( cypherpunks are all about privacy for the poor and transparency for the powerful )

And is now attempting to silence and kill useful and in use features and future application possibilities based on them, whitewashing them with handwavy vague absolutist claims such as "old" or "insecure", instead of creating detailed comparisons for users. tor's users and operators are the ones who get to choose their own versions, and use appropriate features / freedom / security tradeoffs, not by the sole dictate of Tor Project Inc. Which by the way is funded to $Millions per year so that is not an argument to killing otherwise modularizable features either, but may be why there are insufficient disclaimers, and censors.
