The Wikileaks Defense
by professor rat 04 Jan '22

04 Jan '22

Boils down to " You can't want me here cos I'm wanted over there " - Very Assange. Letitia James got the new year off to a roaring start by subpoenaing Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump to testify in that same civil probe into the Trump Organization. The two Trump kids, along with Donald Trump, responded by immediately filing in court to try to block the subpoenas. Notably, in that filing, they asserted that they shouldn’t have to testify in the civil case because it could be used against them in the parallel criminal case. Wikileaks enabled the Trump Crime Family - so they became entangled to a certain extent. And now neither one can be fully measured without effecting the other. " Its quantum mechanics, Jim. But not as we know it "

Welcome to the grand month of January, 2022. This month's cypherpunk archive was led into the year by the grand professor rat. Professor rat's first post this year was entitled "Sadly there will probably only ever be 5,200 Crypto Dickbutts". Here's the text professor rat sent. The email is dated January 1, 03:03:12 PST in the archive: Sadly therewill probably only eve be 5,200 Crypto Dickbutts > Crypto Punks are scarce because there is a finite and fixed supply; > and yes, there will probably only ever be 5,200 Crypto Dickbutts. > But the amount of things you can speculate on in crypto is ever > increasing and theoretically interminable. More specifically, the > infinity-billion dollars in risk-seeking capital are not entirely dedicated > to buying the bags of crypto OGs. > > There is ample dilution in the destinations for new dollars into crypto. > It is more prominent in a bull market — particularly towards the thrill- > stages, when long-term value theses seem to retreat from the > cognition of money managers that recently discovered themselves to > be geniuses. > > https://cobie.substack.com/p/tokens-in-the-attention-economy I don't really know what professor rat is talking about here. Sometimes professor rat quotes things in verbatim, sometimes mutates them, sometimes comments on them. I don't really know. I don't know much about financial stuff, or their memes, slanders, mockeries, and flags. Onward! The nextpost of January 2022 was by Punk-BatSoup-Stasi 2.0 . Whenever I see that 2.0, I think "man I bet I hurt that guy and he had to kind of reset". Punk's message is dated January 1, 07:23:27 PST, in the archive. Here's what he said: > what the fuck are you doing here That's a new post for Punk-BatSoup-Stasi. Sometimes Punk makes the same kind of posts over and over, but he doesn't often say this sentence.

[joke][cryptotragedy][crazy] nvidia ngc

[silly talk] ngc is a ridiculous tool that nvidia has it's for people who have been mind controlled by the corporate ai to work on data science. it's downloadable from their website at https://ngc.nvidia.com/setup/installers/cli although you might need to give them your social security number or something to download it. [/silly talk] On their website: > Check the binary's md5 hash to ensure the file wasn't corrupted during download: > > md5sum -c ngc.md5 Yay, verifying download integrity using md5. Hum, there's no hash on the website. In the terminal: [user@localhost ngc]$ wget -O ngccli_linux.zip https://ngc.nvidia.com/downloads/ngccli_linux.zip && unzip -o ngccli_linux.zip && chmod u+x ngc --2022-01-04 13:22:42-- https://ngc.nvidia.com/downloads/ngccli_linux.zip Resolving ngc.nvidia.com (ngc.nvidia.com) 13.249.184.51, 13.249.184.53, 13.249.184.59, ... Yay! _The md5 to verify against is bundled in the same download._ Did you know that TCP has protection against non-malicious corruption too? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_Control_Protocol#Checksum_comput… As does the zip format; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_%28file_format%29#Local_file_header The point of manually verifying a digest is for _cryptographic integrity_. It doesn't work if the digest is bundled with the data. It doesn't work if the digest is md5. The only reason to _pretend_ you are doing that is to help mitm attackers modify files in transit. One sees this pattern a lot of places. WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MAKE OF IT? Story: "I got my new prosthetic brain in the mail! Hum, the postman was that guy in the wanted poster." "Yay! Make sure to verify it's the right one before replacing your old one with it." "How do I do that?" "Ask the postman!" "Okay. Um, guy from the wanted poster, is this the right brain? I can throw out my old one?" "Yes! I only deliver the right brains!" "YAY!" The recipient of the brain proceeds to go on a bankrobbery, and gives the funds to the postman. Here's another story: "Yay! Let's go on a drive!" "Make sure you don't get hurt if there's a car crash!" "A car crash what's that?" "That's what we have seatbelts for!" "Seatbelts? What are those?" "Aren't you worried you might hit somebody?" "No! My government protects me from car crashes!"
