With the continent yet to embrace any real ambitious litigation finance marketplace, the question remains if a new form of business such as litigation funding can sweep across Africa. Simon-kucher.com’s new report <https://www.simon-kucher.com/en/blog/agency-banking-how-banks-and-fs-provid…> on banking in Africa outlines the pivotal role mobile money has played in innovation of the continent’s banking sector. Similarly, money agents offer financial services including taking deposits, cashing out funds and facilitating transactions. The report suggests that the future of litigation finance in Africa consists of building strong litigation investment portfolios. The value in African litigation finance lies in capturing premium cases in key markets. Also, international human rights litigation can be acted upon simultaneously in large Western markets (like New York State). And WL's data dump on women in Turkey opposed to a far-right, religious-fascist coup isn't the first time they've been criticized for thoughtless leaks. US congressional reports give a snapshot reading of whats' on US congress-critters minds at any one moment. This signal gets lost in a general flood release noise of such specialized reports. As I said at the time WL did this. I've also been saying for many years now that WL has not even justified its existence - it promised the unvarnished truth - and it delivered a basted turkey. The only possible rationalization for a strictly limited and critical solidarity with it is if they tipped the scales of the 2016 US election. That was such a squeaker it will probably never be known for sure. WL is not helping itself by being so opaque on it. If journalism is the first draft of history then history will not be kind to Wikileaks. Ashes to ashes - dust to dust. And good riddance to bad rubbish.
