IBM's 2-nanometer semiconductor chip could revolutionize our electroni
by jim bell 05 May '22

https://www.fastcompany.com/90739318/this-incredibly-tiny-ibm-chip-could-va… Transistors have shrunk over the decades, from an initial 10,000 nanometers (nm) in 1971 to 5nm in 2020. The 2nm transistors on IBM’s new chip, which is essentially a circuit of connected transistors, are much smaller than the eye can detect. The width of a human hair is 100,000nm; a red blood cell about 7,000nm; a strand of DNA about 2.5nm. Size matters: The smaller the transistors, the more fit on a chip, improving efficiency. “Every time you make things smaller, you can do more,” Khare says. IBM’s 2-nanometer chip is the winner of the enduring impact (15+ years in business) category of Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards. The 2nm chip will likely raise performance across all the gadgets that use them—like our cellphones and Microsoft Xboxes—while also making them smaller and allowing for impressive new features. IBM forecasts an average increase of 45% in product performance, which could allow us to charge cellphones once every four days rather than daily, and autonomous cars to make smarter and quicker decisions. All the while, these electronics should be cheaper, because smaller means less expensive to produce.

Scientific advance leads to a new tool in the fight against hackers https://techxplore.com/news/2022-04-scientific-advance-tool-hackers.html People have used codes and encryption to protect information from falling into the wrong hands for thousands of years. Today, encryption is widely used to protect our digital activity from hackers and cybercriminals who assume false identities and exploit the internet and our increasing number of digital devices to steal from us. As such, there is an ever-growing need for new security measures to detect hackers posing as our banks or other trusted institutions. Within this realm, researchers from the University of Copenhagen's Department of Mathematical Sciences have just made a giant leap. "There is a constant battle in cryptography between those who want to protect information and those seeking to crack it. New security keys are being developed and later broken and so the cycle continues. Until, that is, a completely different type of key has been found," says Professor Matthias Christandl. For nearly twenty years, researchers around the world have been trying to solve the riddle of how to securely determine a person's geographical location and use it as a secure ID. Until now, this had not been possible by way of normal methods like GPS tracking. ...

Cryptocurrency: Politician-Anti's Are Trending to Political Sides
by grarpamp 05 May '22

Politicians are lining up sides against and for crypto. One current trend is that the world's Left are more against it. Not suprising when consider that finance monitoring orgs show US Democrats receiving more campaign donations, lobbying, speaking fees, revolving door engagements, nepotism, etc from dying legacy Bankers and Banks than their Republican counterparts, after all, their Banks finance and print fake money for enabling their top down socialistic regimes... like peas in a pod. The other ruling parties are just as bad, but coming and attacking from other anti angles. Cryptocurrency Honey Badger doesn't give a fuck, but only if you develop, adopt, and use cryptos faster than your indoctrinated brain succumbs to their FUD and BANS. https://digitalchamber.org/fight-for-pow-mining/ https://bitcoinminingcouncil.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Bitcoin_Letter_… https://twiter.com/saylor/status/1521905250801754112 Crypto executives have accused US politicians of making 'misleading' and 'provably false' statements about Bitcoin... https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/provably-false-crypto-execs-ch… The recent Congressional letter penned to the EPA requesting investigation into Bitcoin mining facilities was signed by 22 officials, all Democrats. Deep State wages its influence and disinform program wherever and upon whoever it can... https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2019/10/22/trump-administration-popped-201… https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/mar/19/trump-venezuela-petro-crypt… " If your goal is to preserve wealth, Bitcoin is a relatively environmental friendly option, especially when compared to gold: “Gold mining is one of the most destructive industries in the world. It can displace communities, contaminate drinking water, hurt workers, and destroy pristine environments. It pollutes water and land with mercury and cyanide, endangering the health of people and ecosystems.” Gold is also used to preserve wealth, so its a relevant comparison. Most gold sits idle in vaults, unused, further demonstrating its use as a wealth preserving asset. And golds’ energy usage does not stop after it has been mined. Custody of gold is expensive and cost is a reasonable proxy for energy usage (of vaults, security, elaborate procedures for handling etc.). Bitcoin is easier to handle and store safely, therefore cheaper, translating to less energy usage."

2002 was the empires last chance
by professor rat 04 May '22

04 May '22

I was disheartened enough at the time to scribble " Its always darkest before the dawn ". Things looked bleak. Mong even declared a " Crypto Winter ". But then that winter of our discontent was made - if not summer - a smidgen of spring, by Condi Rice. She made some little mistake that made me wonder if this empire was that invincible. Then, by the end of the year, the antiwar movement had made great strides. The WHIG powers-that-be were now visibly worried. Here then - in late 2001 and early 2002 was the last empires last chance to go full-on-fascist. They plumped for covert fascism instead - a foolish mistake - and we haven't looked back since. By 2006 the Cheney Gang were neutralized - and by 2011 it was plain cryptoanarchy was taking over. Bambi was a lame-duck - ditto Dumbfuck. The ' American Century ' was over by May 2005. This is the internet century and its future is mapped out - cryptoanarchist all the way.

Singapore Ministry of Law’s New Conditional Fee Agreement Framework
by Gunnar Larson 04 May '22

Check out my new article: https://litigationfinancejournal.com/singapore-ministry-of-laws-new-conditi… *Singapore Ministry of Law’s New Conditional Fee Agreement Framework * Today (May 4, 2022) marks a historic day in Singapore. Attorneys in Singapore can now enter into conditional fee agreements (CFA) under Singapore’s new CFA framework. The new CFA provisions are an addition to traditional fee agreements under Singapore’s Legal Profession Act. The new CFA framework in Singapore includes CFAs counter-party contracts such as “win, more fee”, “no win, no fee”, and “no win, less fee.” The new CFA framework <https://www.mlaw.gov.sg/news/press-releases/2022-04-29-framework-cfas-in-si…> will apply to Singapore-based attorneys, and in some instances to foreign law practitioners. Mediation and arbitration will also be covered as part of the CFA framework. This will include partial coverage of Singapore International Criminal Court (SICC) proceedings. According to the Ministry of Law, the new CFA framework aims to help build out Singapore as a hub for litigation innovation, while enhancing aspects of the country’s legal system. As required by the Ministry of Law, attorneys have strict requirements associated with CFA agreements. Click here <https://www.mlaw.gov.sg/news/press-releases/2022-04-29-framework-cfas-in-si…> to read the details in full.
