I see others doing this too. I try to always act like what is rational and checkable is what's important, when I can pull it off. It seems quite clear to me that psychosis can be learned via extensive gaslighting. When you are in an unreal situation, you learn habits that are unreal. Psychiatrists are generally not fans of that, which can open further conspiracy paranoia. A therapist recently told me that there are things that _present_ the same as a psychosis, but are not _actually_ a psychosis. Maybe that's the big difference, dunno.

The purpose of my life is spitting out ideas, the one less probable then the other, and people who own the network, and my computer, use (or steal ymmv) what can be used. Normally I don't write to mailing lists, I'm just a lurker, but this had to be said. Normally I just write my ideas in the title bar of file explorer and I don't save them. My schizophrenic and naive mind does compare to a 12 year old ... but I love it still having imagination and creativity. Basic assumptions are wild imho, you easily overlook something. Today's xkcd showed the author has mysterious difficulty exercising, even as he gets better at it. I was thinking of the various mainstream mind controls, and how that might develop in both him and me. A constant feedback pattern is of people checking e.g. their mobile devices for e.g. their email, texts, or whatever. This pattern has been developing since the 90s. My understanding is that most people check for updates more frequently than is necessary, even if there is generally nothing new, and then portals like facebook or youtube can capitalize on that by introducing influence content. I'm thinking of a sense of satisfaction or reward developing in the mind, and that encouraging habit formation and preference building, to repeat the behavior. When this happens, it's not including reasons: it's feeling-based. If there are rational reasons, they are heavily weighted by the feelings present and the environment of being mostly exposed to the same influences. So instincts we have, like to run around outdoors, have to do their thing in context of that continuous reinforcement. As we go throughout the day, or minds go through different states. We process different things around us; we daydream, brainstorm, plan, or pursue goals; we're at different points in our biological cycles, getting hungry, tired, aroused, etc. So each time these feedback loops of checking messages reinforce in some way, they are doing so in exposure to different things in the mind and body. And they're' doing so without solid logical reasons, which could make it hard for the mind to know which parts are relevant to the reinforcement. The theory then, is that as different parts of mind activate during reinforcement, the reinforcement slowly spreads to those different parts, as it happens during their activity. All the different parts of our cycles start deciding it's helpful to check for updates on our phone -- or the habits of checking for updates, gain footholds in these parts, reducing the cognitive events during the normal human parts that support those normal human parts on their own. I imagine the behavior slowly spreading through the brain, like an arm of the corporation running the product it's associated with. They can stimulate more and more of the human brain by simply delivering an email or showing a meme, the longer the human uses them. And it becomes harder and harder to do other things. This specific theory may be less relevant nowadays as influence has gotten much craftier than simply the reward of getting an email from a friend, but it seems still relevant.

More importantly, it demonstrates a potential path forward for RISC-V in high performance computing and by proxy, another shot for Europe to shed total reliance on American chip technologies beyond Arm-driven architectures. The “Monte Cimone” cluster will not be crunching massive weather simulations or the like anytime soon since it’s just an experimental machine. That said, it does show that performance sacrifices for lower power envelopes aren’t necessarily as dramatic as many believe. The six-node cluster, built by folks at Università di Bologna and CINECA, the largest supercomputing center in Italy, was part of a broader student cluster competition to showcase various elements of HPC performance beyond just floating-point capability. The cluster-building team, called NotOnlyFLOPs, wanted to establish the power-performance profile of RISC-V when using SiFive’s Freedom U740 system-on-chip. That 2020-era SoC has five 64-bit RISC-V CPU cores – four U7 application cores and an S7 system management core – 2MB of L2 cache, gigabit Ethernet, and various peripheral and hardware controllers. It can run up to around 1.4GHz. Here’s a look at the components as well as feeds and speeds of Monte Cimone: - Six dual-board servers with a form factor of 4.44 cm (1U) high, 42.5 cm width, 40 cm deep. Each board follows the industry standard Mini-ITX form factor (170 mm per 170 mm); - Each board features one SiFive Freedom U740 SoC and 16GB of 64-bit DDR memory operating at 1866s MT/s, plus a PCIe Gen 3 x8 bus operating at 7.8 GB/s, one gigabit Ethernet port, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 interfaces; - Each node has an M.2 M-key expansion slot occupied by a 1TB NVME 2280 SSD used by the operating system. A microSD card is inserted in each board and used for UEFI booting; - Two 250 W power supplies are integrated inside each node to support the hardware and future PCIe accelerators and expansion board
