Bloomberg Law Reports Litigation Finance is an Investment in National Integrity - Litigation Finance Journal
by Gunnar Larson 27 Dec '22

27 Dec '22

Check out my new article: https://litigationfinancejournal.com/bloomberg-law-reports-litigation-finan… The United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform recently warned that litigation finance is a potential risk to national security. Bloomberg Law has published a rebuttal to such claims, hailing Consumer Legal Funding as a cornerstone of many United States households seeking much needed cash flow during the litigation process. Bloomberg Law claims that Consumer Legal Funding poses no risk to United States national security. Bloomberg Law’s opinion piece does draw a distinction between consumer and commercial litigation investment. With a focus on consumer funding, Bloomberg Law concludes that many Americans can only pursue justice through the facilitation of litigation investment as a cash flow facility. With the average Consumer Legal Funding contact around $2,000-$3,000, Bloomberg Law concludes that national security is certainly not at stake. Bloomberg goes so far as to call the Chamber of Commerce’s position on consumer litigation investment a ‘fallacy’ of composition logic.

The color-conductivity of money
by professor rat 27 Dec '22

27 Dec '22

As a graduate student at Columbia University in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he discovered several of the most important ideas in quantum information theory, including quantum money (which led to quantum key distribution), quantum multiplexing (the earliest example of oblivious transfer) and superdense coding (the first and most basic example of entanglement-assisted communication). Although this work remained unpublished for over a decade, it circulated widely enough in manuscript form to stimulate the emergence of quantum information science in the 1980s and 1990s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Wiesner

Don't shoot the armless piano-player

Don't shoot the oncoming cybernetics messenger. For here is yet another case of the Austrian school being made laughing-stocks again. The few dead-enders in there must be gluttons for punishment. I was walking along the road with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city – my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with hilarity – and I sensed the internet of things becoming effectively self-conscious. Now you don't have to like the idea of NFT's everywhere and associated emergent luxury-communism to realize some practical benefits from this quasi-dystopian, emergent stigmergy. For example we could give declining entities such as nation-states, religions and large -corporations a cybernetic rating. That is a technical metric of how well they are coping with their loss of command and reach and control. Sort of like running a deadpool in a hospice. Just the thing to warm the cockles of the hearts of every anarcho-nihilist. What say you, Zolgo? Give us your answer here, oh mighty one!

A Santa bearing a hidden gift, cybernetics.

The song was prompted by a visit to Santiago from a British consultant who, with his ample beard and burly physique, reminded Parra of Santa Claus—a Santa bearing a “hidden gift, cybernetics.” https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:LqNkGP0mN08J:https://… Cached reposts the Devils putwillies

First we kill all the economists

Who will miss any of the few remaining Austrian and Marxist types anyway? Ludwig von Mises argued that it was logically impossible, others that it was merely impractical. But Oskar Lange suggested it could be done: if an economy could be described as a series of simultaneous equations for supply and demand, then the central planner could solve those equations, if only by trial and error. This proved easier said than done. Nobel laureate Leonid Kantorovich spent six years gathering the data and performing the calculations necessary to optimise Soviet steel production in the 1960s, far too slowly to be useful in an ever-changing economy. Computers promised more. In an essay published after his death in 1965, Lange wrote: “Let us put the simultaneous equations on an electronic computer and we shall obtain the solution in less than a second. The market process . . . appears old-fashioned.” https://www.ft.com/content/6e81b0ea-d439-11e7-8c9a-d9c0a5c8d5c9 Let us put our faith in that urge to destroy that is also the creative urge
