Called the Package Analysis project, the initiative aims to secure open-source packages by detecting and alerting users to any malicious behavior with the goal of bolstering the security of the software supply chain and increasing trust in open-source software. "The Package Analysis project seeks to understand the behavior and capabilities of packages available on open source repositories: what files do they access, what addresses do they connect to, and what commands do they run?," the OpenSSF said. "The project also tracks changes in how packages behave over time, to identify when previously safe software begins acting suspiciously," the foundation's Caleb Brown and David A. Wheeler added. In a test run that lasted a month, the tool identified more than 200 malicious packages uploaded to PyPI and NPM, with a majority of the rogue libraries leveraging dependency confusion and typosquatting attacks.

The 2nm transistors on IBM’s new chip, which is essentially a circuit of connected transistors, are much smaller than the eye can detect. The width of a human hair is 100,000nm; a red blood cell about 7,000nm; a strand of DNA about 2.5nm. Size matters: The smaller the transistors, the more fit on a chip, improving efficiency. “Every time you make things smaller, you can do more,” Khare says. IBM’s 2-nanometer chip is the winner of the enduring impact (15+ years in business) category of Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards. The 2nm chip will likely raise performance across all the gadgets that use them—like our cellphones and Microsoft Xboxes—while also making them smaller and allowing for impressive new features. IBM forecasts an average increase of 45% in product performance, which could allow us to charge cellphones once every four days rather than daily, and autonomous cars to make smarter and quicker decisions. All the while, these electronics should be cheaper, because smaller means less expensive to produce.

But then that winter of our discontent was made - if not summer - a smidgen of spring, by Condi Rice. She made some little mistake that made me wonder if this empire was that invincible. Then, by the end of the year, the antiwar movement had made great strides. The WHIG powers-that-be were now visibly worried. Here then - in late 2001 and early 2002 was the last empires last chance to go full-on-fascist. They plumped for covert fascism instead - a foolish mistake - and we haven't looked back since. By 2006 the Cheney Gang were neutralized - and by 2011 it was plain cryptoanarchy was taking over. Bambi was a lame-duck - ditto Dumbfuck. The ' American Century ' was over by May 2005. This is the internet century and its future is mapped out - cryptoanarchist all the way.
