PoX Screws Bitcoin, Adulterates Blockchain Software Technology
by Gunnar Larson 28 Nov '21

MIA Coin and NYCCoin use PoX as part of their fraud. Harvard Management Company perhaps has a hand in the scheme? PoX when used for participation rewards, as described, could lead to miner consoli- dation. Because miners that also participate as holders could gain an advantage over miners who do not participate as holders, miners would be strongly incentivized to buy the new cryptocurrency and use it to crowd out other miners. In the extreme case, this consolidation could lead to centralization of mining, which would undermine the decentralization goals of the public blockchain. Bitcoin Bandwidth: Because PoX miners must send Bitcoin transactions to participate in the consensus algorithm and send PoX rewards, PoX mining would occupy some Bitcoin transac- tion bandwidth. Given Bitcoin bandwidth is limited by design, given security require- ments, new PoX blockchains need to reduce their bandwidth use requirements. SIP- 007 does this by limiting the number of participants, using a STX holding threshold. Other ways to address bandwidth limitations are also possible e.g., lighting channels between Bitcoin and the new blockchain. Optimizations at the Bitcoin transactions layer could also be possible, which would reduce the total size needed for PoX trans- actions.

James A. Donald hates India

As, indeed, all Marxists are called on to do. Marx, New-York Daily Tribune, August 8, 1853: "Indian society has no history at all, at least no known history. What we call its history, is but the history of the successive intruders who founded their empires on the passive basis of that unresisting and unchanging society. The question, therefore, is not whether the English had a right to conquer India, but whether we are to prefer India conquered by the Turk, by the Persian, by the Russian, to India conquered by the Briton.....

MIA Coin, NYC Coin and Ms. Linda Lacewell
by Gunnar Larson 27 Nov '21

People have been asking about the legality of STX and Harvard Management Company relations out of Miami. There is one attorney on planet Earth, who I imagine, potentially ... May have good insight into the MIA Coin and NYC Coin debacle: Ms. Linda Lacewell, formally of NY-DFS. Ms. Lacewell earned her law degree from the University of Miami: https://www.linkedin.com/in/linda-lacewell-b69857b MIA Coin started mining on August 1 and on August 10 New York womanizing was shut down.

India tells Starlink to stop offering satellite internet without a license

https://news.yahoo.com/india-spacex-starlink-warning-164709332.html India has told Starlink to stop pre-sales of satellite internet access when it doesn't have a license for the country. Jim Bell's comment: Starlink should sell non-local "mobile" service anywhere. Without bothering with "licenses". India is a country which 'turns off' Internet for 'political' reasons.

Hackaday: Analyzing Starlink Satellite Downlink Communications With Software Defined Radio
by jim bell 27 Nov '21

Hackaday: Analyzing Starlink Satellite Downlink Communications With Software Defined Radio. https://hackaday.com/2021/11/26/analyzing-starlink-satellite-downlink-commu… Often, mere curiosity is sufficient to do something. This is also the case with people trying to analyze the communication setup and protocol which SpaceX is using with their Ku-band based Starlink satellites. One of these fine folk is [Christian Hahn], who has recently posted some early findings to r/StarlinkEngineering over at Reddit. Some of the captured data seems to include the satellite ID system that ground-based user stations would presumably use to keep track of overhead Starlink satellites. For the capturing itself, [Christian] is using a second-hand dish for capture and a DIY SDR using KC705 FPGA-based hardware – which may have begun its life as crypto mining hardware – along with the usual assortment of filters and other common components with this kind of capture. Even at this early time, some features of the Starlink protocol seem quite obvious, such as the division into channels and the use of guard periods. Nothing too earth-shattering, but as a fun SDR hobby it definitely checks all the boxes. [Christian] has also announced that at some point he’ll set up a website and publish the findings and code that should make Starlink signal analysis easy for anyone with a readily available SDR receiver.
