Hi All,

I am Jay Toser from Fall River, WI. For right now, I am the kind of, the secretary for the DVD Project. I get a copy of the e-mails whenever someone writes to cd2010 at pglaf.org

There are a number of STANDARD complaints that I receive. Enough complaints, that I have written a STANDARD reply.

Actually, in the advertising business (my previous occupation), this is called a boilerplate. If you ever get a complaint such as this, here is my response:

Complaint----

Sir,
I requested you for E-book DVD.I think you received my request and
mailed me the DVD pack before 30 days ago.But yet I do not get any CD
pack in my hand though it had gone 30 days.So sir I requested you to
take emergency step so that I can get these DVD.
If any wrong address or any other problem happened I think you will inform me.

your best regards
Rashed
Chittagong,Bangladesh

Response----

I talked to the Post Master here, but she was not really helpful. Although she thought a package to <COUNTRY> should have arrived by now, her first advice was to wait another week or so.

It really does take about six weeks for simple, small packages to get to <COUNTRY> from America. Your package may just have been unlucky.

Please let me know if you don't get it by <EXACTLY TWO MONTHS>. I will send a new package. I am sorry for the delay, but I cannot control how the rest of the world works.

Below, not for inclusion in the above boilerplate:

The Political World is full of land mines. Any package to India takes about six weeks. This person is just worried that we never sent the package at all. That's it -- there is no hatred, there is just worry. Please, if you get a message such as this, respond as diplomatically as possible.

Just as a couple Rules of Thumb: (assuming the person who mailed, lives in America)

1) Anything mailed inside North America (Mexico, Canada, America) should arrive within two weeks. If you get a complaint of non-delivery, -- apologize, and send another package.

2) Anything mailed outside North America to Europe (meaning the European Union) should arrive within four weeks.

3) Anything mailed elsewhere in the world -- TO A NON-REPRESSIVE GOVERNMENT, will take a minimum of six weeks.

4) Repressive Governments:

Hey Folk, if you have information on any of these, I would wish you post it here!!

Iran: 50-50 chance the package will be delivered at all. Time: Six months at a minimum.
Vietnam: If the address is complete and correct, it will be delivered. Time: three months. If the address is wrong, 50-50 chance you will get the package returned.
Palestinian Territories: Will be delivered: Time: Four months.
Yemen: Will never get there.

As always, If you get a complaint of non-delivery -- and it seems like the package REALLY DID get lost in the mail;

Apologize, and send a duplicate package.

Hope this helps.
Jay Toser
