Would be much cooler if they alowed owners to turn off all datalogging, uploading, microphones, cameras, etc. And just let them grab anonymous updates for drivetrain and electrics performance. Not to mention drivers watching video is unsafe.

Not to mention drivers watching video is unsafe. A friend of mine's father has the distinction of being the first person in Oregon who received a traffic ticket for watching TV in a car. That doesn't sound surprising, does it? But it is, if I tell you the year it happened: 1953. Jim Bell

don't worry - people won't be driving anymore in the 'near' future. They probably won't be moving in cars either. They will be more likely to have their brains plugged into googleNSATeslaAmazon. Though on second thoughts why would libertarian entrepreneurs like amazon, tesla and the NSA need any 'customers'?

Actually, people already abuse the shit out of the tesla autopilot feature... and there have been some spectacular crashes as well, like the guy who was watching a Harry Potter movie in his tesla when it drove itself into a semi and killed him. There was an interesting technical explanation for the crash, although "moron" probably suffices. See: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/01/tesla-driver-killed-autop...
