Tue Jun 5 10:34:14 CDT 2007

All,

Notes from the last meeting.

Fri 1st June 2007, 8AM-9AM PDT, 11AM-Noon EDT, 4PM-5PM BST, 3PM-4PM GMT

Attendees -
    Steve Newhourse - Microsoft Corp
    Chris Kanterjiev - Oracle Corp
    Paul Strong - eBay Inc.
    Dave Snelling - Fujitsu
    Duncan Johnston-Watt - Enigmatec

Notes

We discussed David's life cycle document -
https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/docman/do/listDocuments/projects.rm-wg/do
cman.root.drafts
Eventually this document will be merged with the main Ref Model v2.0
document.
However whilst the ideas are being developed and discussed it will
remain separate.

Changes and suggestions were incoporated into the document in real
time by Dave so are generally not included in these minutes.
The exact naming of the states, particularly Extant,
remainsundecided, but this may be deferred until the nature of those
states is completely agreed upon.
When in the Extant state a component MAY depend on other components.
The notion of depending on these components being in some state was
removed.

Paul indicated that it would be useful to add discussion to the
document, or rather indicate the rationale behind various decisions to
help readers understand the model more fully.

Added arguments to Activate, even though these could be synonymous
with those for Commission, so that a user may simply call activation and
drive a fall through from Extant. This would seem a natural thing for a
user to want to do.

Suggested adding self transition to configured/commissioned to allow
for reconfiguring whilst awaiting activation and without requiring the
component to be "unconfigured".

Actions
Dave Snelling to update doc and post.
Paul Strong to update Ref Model document in line with general model
work done in previous meetings.

Next Meeting
