Dear all,

FYI, see links at page that Mark Carlson provides below. The SC38
Open Meeting took place during the week of the DMTF Alliance Partners
Technical Symposium at Boulder. Other slides and links from that
week's meetings are available at:

I'll leave it to the OCCI-WG leaders to summarize their sessions
there, but I believe we made good progress building working
relationships with DMTF and SNIA, and should now think about how to
provide reference implementations that others can adopt to show off
the ease of use, power and utility of OCCI. We can do this either
through partnerships with our existing developer community and
partners, or through specific example and tutorial pages, but I
believe we should now do more than usual for OGF to encourage adoption.

These are just my opinions. I can also report that in my view, the
relationships we have with other organizations in general may require
more maintenance and active care than we have been putting into them
recently, and these are examples of areas in which we can profitably
benefit from better formal relations between the organizations. The
ISO SC38 organizers did encourage us in further conversations to
become a PAS submitter in order to work more closely with them, based
on their interest in OCCI and other related OGF work. I think we
should talk about this in the Board.

Thanks to Thijs and Andy for their great organization, and to other
OGF OCCI-WG members who attended and contributed, including Michael,
Eugene, Gary and others. At times we had nearly 30 people in the room
and had to bring in extra tables and chairs during conversations with
the other groups, including SNIA and DMTF. That shows a lot of
interest. It's up to us now to build on the steps that have been done
to date and take this set of standards further. It would be great to
see this set achieve wider adoption.

Thanks,
Alan
