Hi Prasad,

At the current time, I believe that the focus of OCCI is somewhat different
from that of the existing set of OGF specifications. Most of the standards
for Grid computing are very specific to the usage models of grid computing,
which deal with concepts such as batch jobs, file management, etc, etc. I
like to see these as standards for applications which are _accessing_
resources. 

On the other hand, OCCI, in my mind, is a specification designed to help
users to _manage_ resources directly, and is less concerned with the access
to those resources once the resources have been set up and running. So the
key difference in my mind is that OCCI is a resource management layer
specification vs the Grid workload management layer specifications.

This is not to say that there won't be intersection points. As the VP of
standards (my current role), the standards council and I monitor activity
across the multiple OGF working groups, and encourage groups to collaborate
where there is some intersection point that they might not be aware of. For
example, there might be room for OCCI to present information about resources
that is rendered using the GLUE information model.

I can also see that when OCCI starts considering how one might expose the
management of PaaS offerings, that "Grid", based on existing OGF standards,
might be one of the platforms to be exposed.
