Dear all,
There are a couple of action items from GIN meetings
since last GGF. One is to setup a test matrix (hello
world) for all GIN testbed systems. I setup some basic
tests using SCMSWEB. The tests are set to run hourly
and test each cluster on globus authentication, job
submission, griftp and DNS. To see the test results,
click "GIN Testbed Status" on the page
http://goc.pragma-grid.net/gin/default.html.
This is a quick initial setup and we are working on
an improvement to SCMSWeb to correctly handle services
running on different addresses within a site/cluster.
For example, gridftp service on ANL cluster is running
on a different node from gatekeeper service - currently
we are not getting the correct gridftp test results for
ANL cluster.
Somsak - our SCMSWeb expert at Kasetsart University,
Thailand has revised SCMSWeb software and is doing
some final testing. We will upgrade SCMSWeb soon and
will let you know when this problem is fixed.
But the structure for the testing matrix is there.
Let me know any problems and suggestions, and we'll
improve upon this.
Another action item is to try an additional application
to explore data aspect of interoperation issues.
I'm very happy to introduce to you David Abramson and
Colin Enticott of Monash University, Australia. David
is the brain behind the development of grid middleware
- Nimrod, which greatly simplifies grid application
deployment and execution. The application they would
like to try in our GIN testbed is a climate simulation
application - Savanah Study. This application is based
on Nimrod/G and has achieved long-run (a few months)
in PRAGMA Grid testbed. One characteristic of this
application is more data and data movements, thus it
makes a good case to study data issues in GIN.
Colin has join our list and will prepare a requirement
page for his application. We will contact each site and
get this application going soon.
Welcome, David and Colin, to our GIN testbed!
Thank you, everyone, for your continued support!
Cindy
