Mr. Dove,

 

If I may direct your attention to the Licensing page on the Project
Gutenberg web site, http://www.gutenberg.org/license, it explains that the
public domain books that we distribute are free of copyright and that anyone
can do anything with them at any time and for any reason. You can use a
short story to create a play, or a novel, or a screen play, or a movie, or.
you get my drift.

 

The name "Project Gutenberg" is trademarked. If you wish to use our
trademark, you must pay us a royalty for its use. Some of the works on our
web site remain under copyright. If you look in the GUTINDEX.ALL catalog
file (which lists all of the works we have available for download on the web
site), these works are indicated by the letter "C" following the e-book
number. The particular conditions for using these works are listed in the
"small print" legalese that is part of each work as it is stored on the web
site (typically, this information is at the front of the work or at the very
back, depending on when the work was originally posted to the web site and
what, if any, maintenance has occurred on the work since its original
posting).

 

We are a small volunteer organization. Our entire payroll is two people, and
they are not always paid. There is much information on our website
(www.gutenberg.org <http://www.gutenberg.org/> ). If you have specific
