> B. Acceptance of the last meeting, Nov 06, 2007 call minutes,
- Accepted
> C. Current documents status
> - IDL DRMAA doc submitted
- Peter reported about comments from GFSC
- Takes responsibility of adding them to the public comment page
(still not online)
- New OGF process also in public comment, but still does not affect
DRMAA
> E. Current discussion items
> - Java doc/implementation version
- Dan explained problem with Java binding versioning
- "Java 1.0 binding" published earlier on drmaa.org, was implemented
by several people
- Updated (and IDL 1.0 spec compliant) version of this document
renames one method
- Leads to question of document version number, and returned API
version number
- Agreement that this reflects the general question of versioning policy
- Was not explicitly defined in the past
- Future policy needs then to be applied to the Java spec
- Similar problems in the past with different C binding versions
(SGE has two C DRMAA libs)
- Two proposals roughly identified
- Synchronized document version numbers are the major issue
- Leads to another "Java 1.0" spec, but this time in the OGF
document chain and therefore with a GFD number
- Might confuse existing developers
- Document version numbers are decoupled from API version numbers
- Leads to some "Java 1.X" document, which must relate itself to
IDL spec 1.0 in the text
- Might confuse OGF / new developers
- Question of returned API version number also still unsolved
- Agreement that versioning policy discussion must be solved by
offline discussion
- Call for short proposals on mailing list and / or wiki
> - DRMAA logo
- Not discussed.
> - SC'07
- According to Dan, nothing new from Platform so far.
- Agreement that having all ISV's / vendors in one room would be the
best for discussing future DRMAA development
- Andreas will check possibilities for such an event at Sun
Next phone conference is on Jan 15th.
Happy new year !
