Subject: [dais-wg] Announcement of the DAIS RDF(S) Access development initiative

Hi Folks,

We would like to draw your attention to a new effort that is
taking place within the DAIS working group to create a standard for
access to RDF data resources as a DAIS realization.

We have already had a BOF at GGF16 and GGF17 and held our first
face-to-face meeting June 2006 in Edinburgh. This work is currently
being lead by AIST and UPM and as a first output of our collaborative
work we have created an informational document that motivates and
describes the work that we are going to do, see:

https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/go/doc13710?nav=1

Please have a look and provide us with any feedback or comments by either
posting to the dais mailing list or using the tracker set up at the DAIS
for site:

https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/tracker/do/listArtifacts/projects.dais-wg/tracker.dais_rdf_s

We would like to submit this document as a GGF informational document for
GGF18.

Our initial plan is to focus on RDF(S) and we propose to produce the
following specs:

o Query language based interface using SPARQL.
o Ontology access interface based on RDF(S)

If you would be interested in participating in this activity, please
let us know. We are hoping to collect some willing contributors. Once
we get sufficient interest we will set up telcons to discuss this
work.

In the meantime we will have a session at GGF18 in Washington DC
where we will outline this work. The name of the session is
"Access Service for RDF Data Resources", and will be held on Wednesday,
September 13, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm, in room 158A-B.

If you will not be going to GGF18 then don't worry you can still
participate by reading our documents and commenting, attending telcons
or future face to face meetings. Meanwhile please do read our document
and let us know what you think. Thank you,
