Thijs,

First time caller, long time listener as they say.

I've had a crack at tightening up the overview for you:

Virtualization has brought about a new utility computing model under
> the "cloud computing" umbrella called "Infrastructure-as-a-Service" (IaaS),
> whereby virtualized resources are delivered on-demand. There are several
> examples of cloud providers offering such elastic capacity within their
> proprietary infrastructure, with an interface for remote management of
> virtualized server instances. Equally, there is now growing interest in
> open source cloud computing tools that let organizations build and
> customize their own cloud infrastructure, providing commercial cloud
> compatible interfaces.
>
> The proposed OGF group will develop an API specification for dynamic
> deployment in an appropriate descriptor language, covering the controlling
> and monitoring of virtual machines. The scope of the specification will be
> all
> of the high level functionality required for the life-cycle management of
> virtual machines supporting automated service elasticity. The new
> specification
> will facilitate the integration of the service management components that
> are
> being built on top of cloud infrastructures.
>

That's not to say I'm necessarily 100% with the contents, but it flows
better now I think.

Cheers,

Sam

P.S. CAPI is a poor choice of handle too - it already means "Common ISDN
Application Programming Interface" to many of us.
