[ot][spam][fiction] Cyberpunk Video Game was: Morning Spam
We are thinking of making a point-and-click (or whatnot) video game, based on the experience of being Karl or his confused brainmind. Karl liked [oops universe changes if these games are written O_O] maybe something different will happen with this thread who knows! Anyway we were thinking maybe it could start a little like the matrix, where the main character is plugged into a massive machine (maybe from an AI takeover), and kind of wakes up [maybe inspired from what it's like as little neurons for a human to leave a computer and want to look at nature but not understand that they do]
it would probably be a ton of tropes! for each trope, there are people who haven't had enough of it ;p [it would also be new stuff !!] if we get ratelimited and are still doing this can move to memo.cash
so there are two parts to starting, trying to use AGS, likely making AI-art to put into AGS (this is likely frustrating so might take it gently, could also have it be simple like xkcd), and likely asking an AI how to use AGS without using your brain
nowadays AGS is open source. this wasn't always the case. https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags
did not work. - ags is for windows but builds to linux (at first glance) - missing headers for deep dependencies and system doesn't update atm karl might poke at it a bit
we hit the culture clash :( game no fun any more, people busy telling other people their closest values are worthless, horrible
maybe instead of like matrix we can open with the main character being a mind-controlled senator who isn't aware they are mind-controlled ;p [they could have an implant hanging out of their skull]
[when look in mirror or photos taken, it would be invisible in the other media [representing mass dissociation and coverup maybe
but we are thinking it might be nicer to be a little squirrel maybe by a fountain retrieving an acorn that flew into the fountain without getting seen by kids
maybe no game unsure we have an ipad and no mac system to build a game for an ipad :/ but i guess there's probably some solution to that if it gets that far
i think we just wanted to make a nice game for karl sometimes he looks for [text adventure games?] on the ipad [point-and-click is harder to say] to relax/self-care but never finds many new ones
it's just the engine :/ looks like the editor is c# there may also be format documentation maybe not what the context is comfortable with/nourished by tohugh (long puzzle approach to success)
first solution on internet is to run using playonlinux https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/issues/442 karl wants to look at the other solutions, might relate available diskspace unsure
@ericoporto Indeed, after installing PlayOnLinux and creating a new virtual disk with dotnet20 _and_ dotnet40 (the installer was complaining that .NET 2.0 was not found) I was able to install and run AGS. As of now, the AGS Editor is working and after trying multiple times to run a game it would eventually compile and run.
maybe the goal is just to see if the editor is reasonable to run, and that might be good for now karl has worked on adventure game engines himself! he made a web-based one [when he was a teenager?] it got lost in site reset i think unsure
ok :D so the plan is to install playonlinux from source, and then install dotnet40 and ags editor inside it a smidge of thought around [the text adventure game with the low quality synthetic voice for all characters where the main character was a hacker? was that a psyop?
only 5-1=4 emails left T_T time to change to memo.cash here's the first tx: https://memo.cash/explore/tx/ac6bd83482c46d083bb89fc0c19cd92e80c024d3c46bf4e... and the topic page is at: https://memo.cash/topic/%5Bot%5D%5Bspam%5DGamewas%3ATraffickBossSpam
idea: "change the patient to be an undead zombie that became a cyborg when it was taken by the borg from star trek" ;p 2 posts left
i believe this is the last post allowed i mentioned on memo.cash that maybe a way to make sprites would be to find a sprite sheet and have an AI change the character on it in the chatgpt session, it appears to be unaware that sprites contain walking, instead projecting other changing features across them. it additionally confused 1/3rd borg assimilation with a 1/3rd perspective view
I kept trying to start this maybe for longer than healthy but run into snags in many of the avenues I tried. - I tried running playonlinux to run the AGS editor [due to software dev issues] but it requires wxpython which isn't running for me due to https://github.com/wxWidgets/Phoenix/issues/2486 . - I started working with some mocap data so as to create bone positionings to prompt stable diffusion with to make spritesheets, but ran into [software dev issues] converting the data and decided to use blender instead, but blender requires a newer version of gcc than i have installed. i keep running into compilation issues building gcc (primarily linking problems in libstdcxx) and haven't yet gotten a build of a version blender supports. - I downloaded stable diffusion xl from the official repository but it isn't running locally for me, each different way of running it gives some error. i wanted to do this to easily create custom workflows. I did find these successes: - stable diffusion can already create spritesheets using OpenPose from https://github.com/lllyasviel/ControlNet and it looks like the internet community has been using this - i got the popular https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui to launch locally, but i haven't tried putting a model into it yet to see if it will do forward inference out of the box on my machine - i did find remote instances of the stable diffusion webui, but the ones i found either didn't have openpose installed or didn't have normal models (e.g. it would make porn but wouldn't make the zombie hero :S this was confusing to me
my laptop has broken and won’t turn on. maybe power supply. my cell phone stopped taking a charge, i got it to charge by removing the microsd card
there was a nice peaceful idea of a magic soup game, where player helps make a special soup that like stone soup heals community by connecting people
one was [something like player encounters three digital media interfaces next to dispensors one interface gives overfunded pro-dictator media, one gives medium-funded pro-democracy media, and one gives community-[and-rebel-]made pro-anarchy media if the player engages one of them they are hypnotically overinfluenced with hypermedia and are given options to respond. all the options are “this is awesome i want this to take over [everything/my free will]!” except for one option that’s like “i’m a little unsure of this for some unimaginable reason.” if they select “awesome” 2-3 times they get completely emtranced and dispense a brain implant from the dispenser, open their skull and brain and place the implant inside their brain their eyes get [wide as saucers and they [turn into a political zombie]] ] second was kinder, much more reality-focused, and [misplaced/not coming to mind] atm
i guess this thread was more implementation but maybe ideas could go here too here's an idea for a mind control boss / traffick boss video game using the boss-harms-himself trope traffick boss is decked out and directed to look super cool while the user mind controls him to horribly harm himself he is walking down a walkway with deep bass and cinematic effects, takes out a badass weapon and shoots himself; takes an expensive weapon down he walks by and maims himself ... continues ... user has to control each act of severely harming himself [mistake? too violent maybe
some time ago i made a smidgy language model text adventure! it prompted the lm to make a “game state” to reprompt itself with so as to not be limited by history size. it wasn’t perfect. not right here atm to paste in or attach. a new idea arose: maybe make a game that is specifically designed to be accomplishable. something super tiny! unsure what especially while on ipad. maybe would move to computer unsure. want to be packing right now
Got idea for mind controlled mediator tropes. Starts off with 3 very quick scenes: 1. Deeply peaceful mediator doing something deeply peaceful and dedicated, but nearby zombie and born apocalypse. 2. Mediator is attacked by zombies and turns vividly. 3. Zombie mediator is kidnapped by borg and assimilated and then thrown back into the world. Done humorously like modern games for people with low attention span. Game starts with mediator shaking, quivering, lunging to eat brains and assimilate for the born, steadily integrating their new experiences. Perspective or interface changes to focus the mediator's experience and player is in control. Player is implicitly charged with engaging scenarios in the world in a caring, meditative way, while possessed and overwhelmed by borg and zombie influences. This starts with very simple things and slowly increases as the mediator develops skill with their takeover. When a challenge is too hard the mediator automatically uses emergency behaviors to prevent themselves from assimilating or combining the person they are trying to harm. The game mechanic is such that the player is presented with zombie and born urges and interpretations of the parts of the situation, and must guide them into small windows that produce caring results of slowly increasing complexity. A little like directing a robot where the behaviors available are zombie and born ones. An approach might be to let them energize areas of the mediator's experience or world, but if done too much in an area the influence latches on and takes over and the mediator balks. Interactions and flow would be developed to engage humor around the experience of adult mind controlled DID as well as the trope of a demon-haunted saintly person. An example might be having the user start off just trying to engage the world normally but having the borg/zombie behaviors and interpretations, and the mediator's balking, take over everything, stimulating the player learning the core mechanic at the same time as the mediator adjusting to the new experiences in analogy to familiar human experiences of something like an alter rising and threatening a fugue state.
Wanted to add that character motion vectors can be drafted/generated with momask https://ericguo5513.github.io/momask/ there are also undocumented model weights for momask on huggingface.co somewhere, they appear likely to be the same as the Google drive weights. MoMask is older than it looks and there are newer approaches but it looks easy to use. "Masking" is a way to pretrain models by hiding some of the data and predicting that, likely stimulating a smidge of humanlike pattern fitting to whatever the data is.

all instances of the word "born" are typos for "borg".
2. Mediator is attacked by zombies and turns vividly. 3. Zombie mediator is kidnapped by borg and assimilated and then thrown back into the world.
Was thinking of swapping 2 and 3. So borg'd before zombie'd. I think this makes a better intuitive power balance between the influences.

"combining" was autocorrect for what was intended to be "consuming". was trying to think of what zombies do to others. i guess they eat them?
