[repeatedly attempts to approach novel, but each time he does he is overcome by something i tense that takes t8me t9 handle, such as needing to pee, or suddenly getting incredibly sleepy, or getting so nauseous as to vomit, …] [then we could have the old standby of not being able to see the novel, or things to do with, or feel it, etc, having to find and engage it via indirect avenues …]
