A number of months ago, I discovered that various Macintosh "unused diskspace" wipe utilities (Norton, Burn) fail to wipe the unused slackspace at the end of the last block allocated to a file. This leaves NumberOfFiles*512Bytes/2 = several kB of recoverable data on your average drive.
I can verify that this is a cross-platform bug. The Dos/win3.1 and Win95 versions all have the same flaw. -- Salvatore Denaro sal@panix.com Spinning dreams with angel wings Yes, I use PGP torn blue jeans/a foolish grin
