Prediction about new credit card number scheme

By JOHN MARKOFF AN FRANCISCO -- Hoping to remove a major impediment to credit card transactions over the Internet, a business group led by Mastercard International and Visa International plans to announce an industry-standard technology Thursday for protecting the security of electronic payments.
My prediction about the new CC standard: it will be a mistake if they don't pass on the details to cypherpunks. BTW - are any micropayment schemes reving up to commerciality yet??? -Thomas
