IRS TECHNOLOGY CHIEF TO RESIGN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Arthur Gross, the IRS official heading efforts to update the agency's outmoded computer systems, plans to leave the agency this spring.

Gross, chief information officer at the IRS, won wide respect from congressional Republicans for his computer modernization efforts even as they grilled the agency for mistreatment of taxpayers last year.

He announced his plans to resign Tuesday.
