I've heard of that, but I thought it was only a redundancy check to check for read errors in the swiping process.
That's why they use checksums - I have some information about the VISA-net authorization network (which came from Phrack) and also some about the actual encoding of the card, if anyone cares. -jon ( --------[ Jonathan D.
