Nominations for Grid Forum Steering Group

The Global Grid Forum (GGF) Nominations Committee (NOMCOM) is soliciting
nominations for the open positions on the Grid Forum Steering Group (GFSG).

You can submit your candidate nominations to nomcom at ggf.org or to any of the
NOMCOM members listed below. Self-nominations are accepted.

The deadline for nominations is midnight Friday, May 20, 2005 UTC.

GGF's mission is to "Lead the pervasive adoption of grid computing for
research and industry". The key themes of the GGF mission are to enable
"Pervasive Adoption", for both "Research and Industry" through "Standards"
development and the continued build-out of our international "Community"
supported by effective "Operations". In order to achieve this mission, GGF
is being asked to step up to a new level of leadership. A unique opportunity
exits now to become part of the new leadership team of GGF during 2005.

The following GFSG positions are open:

Standards Function:
. Vice Chair Standards
. Area Director (AD) Infrastructure
. AD Compute
. AD Applications
. AD Standards Liaison

Community Function:
. Vice chair Communities
. AD Research Applications
. AD Industrial Applications
. AD Grid Operations
. AD Technology Innovators
. AD Major Grid Projects
. AD Community Affairs

Operations Function:
. AD Marketing
. AD Events
. AD Finance
. AD Sponsorship
. AD Information Technology

These positions arise from the proposed new GGF management structure. The
current draft titled "Global Grid Forum - Changes to GGF Operating Model"
can be found on GridForge. The proposed structure and the open positions
have to be reviewed by the membership and finally approved by GFSG.

Candidates should be flexible to assume different positions in the Steering
Group to meet the strategic needs of GGF

Terms begin upon the announcement of selections at GGF15 (in the fall) and
are usually for three years. So that, in a normal year, 1/3 of the GFSG
terms would be expected to expire. However, due to the restructuring there
are many more positions open this year. In order to retain the 1/3
expiration ratio some positions filled this year will be open for one or two
years only.

It is possible that not all of positions will need to be filled, due to the
creation or elimination of positions by the GFSG, resignations, transfers,
etc.

The following members of GFSG have terms that expire this year:

Peter Clarke, AD Data
Cees DeLaat, AD Peer to Peer
Bill Nitzberg, AD Scheduling and Resource Management
Ken Klingenstein, AL
Dennis Gannon, AL
Charlie Catlett, previous Chair

To make a nomination, send an email to nomcom at ggf.org or contact anyone of
the members of the nominating committee below. We also welcome your views on
the effectiveness of a position, including past performance of incumbents.

ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED TO NOMCOM WILL BE KEPT IN CONFIDENCE AND WILL BE
USED ONLY DURING DELIBERATIONS OF THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE.

Many NOMCOM members will be at GGF13. We welcome your nominations or views
at that time.
