OK, the reason I didn't see the problem before is that Christine had fixed it with "refresh share attachment".

There's no timing issue. For example, "in the name of Time" was created at 10:01 this morning and the facebook post was made at 10:21:11
We could check our logs to see if there were server response time issues at that time, but it seems not. We can check the logs to see when facebook first loaded the image. It's conceivable that our load balancer doesn't like traffic from the facebook unfurl caching bot.

Update: the PG site has gotten slow right now! I bet that's the issue.

More likely the problem is the facebook unfurl cache having issues. Nothing we can do about that.

The code for the generative covers was developed by a team at New York Public Library. I fixed a few issues relating to encoding and long titles.

BTW, I switched gutenberg new to the icon we're been using for the analogous service on mastodon. So far the reactions are 26 likes and 1 "you moved my cheese!"

It would be possible for Eric's code to use less bright colors. I've never seen a complaint in the PG helpdesk inbox or elsewhere, so I wonder whether the complaints you see are not considerate and well-reasoned, but are just a byproduct of toxicity found on social media.
