Tue Apr 26 10:01:40 CDT 2011

Attendees:
Dan Romascanu
Alan Sill
Andrew Watson
Mark Carlson
Winston Bumpus

Minutes:

Alan will add the next OGF meeting to the events page.

Alan has a contact for one of the IEEE conferences.
Also Steve Diamond is setting up new IEEE work groups and
would be good to have join the group and create an entry.
Also Steve may be able edit the events page.
Winston will talk to Steve.

Dan updated us on recent cloud activities for IETF from Prague:
There was the first meeting of ARMD group.
Ops Data working group (umbrella for general interest items for operators and network admins) - this is where most of the cloud related I-Ds were discussed.
Most of the work is happening on the mailing lists.
ARMD will have an event (NANOG BOF) soon to discuss requirements from network operators.

Alan asked if OpenFlow was considered at IETF - Dan has not seen anything yet.

Winston mentioned that the Open Networking Foundation is developing a standard around the OpenFlow code. http://www.opennetworkingfoundation.org/
They may not be cloud-specific and so may not warrant an entry in the wiki

Alan asked about IETF interaction with the research community.
Dan mentioned that there is a related group: IRTF that consists of research folks

Andrew discussed the formation of the Cloud Standards Customer Council.
They will provide input to the standards development in the form of prioritized requirements. Andrew will update the wiki to reflect the new group.

Both DMTF and SNIA have requested Category A liaisons with SC38.

Mark talked about how SNIA develops code and encourages an open source ecosystem around it's standards.

Alan talked about a recent event on high performance application of clouds and grids.
