hello, all:

akram and I was supposed to be the VRVS meeting today, unfortunately the meeting time was coincide with the other meeting. Anyway thanks for the meeting attachment. We would like to provide our feedbacks on the seven questions in the attachment (section 6).

>Q 1. Is the scope of the proposed group sufficiently focused?
The OGF-RUS WG aims at defining the service interfaces for interactions to XML usage records in UR-WG format for various grid entities, inculding user ends and other grid service instances. Therefore, the OGF-RUS standard should provide a document-oriented interface with exchange of accounting informaiton in XML format. Then the first question is "Should OGF-RUS also limits the storage of usage records in XML database only?". I personally doubt this and think the service interface should be independent on underlying storage mechanisms, XML:DB, relational database, or file systems. Secondly, OGF-RUS WG has very close relationship with OGF-UR and provides extraction interfaces with certian usage properties (urf:GlobalUserID and urf:MachineName) as query keys. However there are far more usage scenarios then these two usage properties, urf:Host, urf:LocalUserId, urf: GlobalJobID and urf:Resource extension framework for instances. Besides that, we should also consider the VO-level usage tracking (RUS::extractUsageByVOName ?), even though UR-WG does not provide explicit but properties for VO information but extensible. Furthermore, it is preferrable for OGF-RUS to be more flexible to accommodate job usage tracking as well as aggregate view with custom combination, for example, extraction of aggregate usage inforamtion of jobs belonging to a particular user and executed on two named hosts of a site during november last year. Finally and foremost, the access policies of OGF-RUS draft defined two roles, machine manager and service manager, which are not enough to cover various usage scenarios. And the machine manager is too OGF-UR specified and semantically different from site manager or resource manager.

>Q 2. Are the topics that the groups to address clear and relevant for the Grid research, development, industrial, implementation, and/or application user community.
As what i said, we should consider more use case and provide more flexible interfaces, especially in aggregate accounting and VO-level view, to accommodate various interactions.

>Q 4. Do the group's activities overlap inappropriately with those of another GGF group or to a group active in another organization such as IETF or W3C?
Just a little bit more discussion about OGSA-DAI and RUS-WG. They are definitely seperate standards. The OGSA-DAI concerns about uniform data access to data store in various format. In web application, OGSA-DAI can be used as a data access layer. RUS-WG more concerns about usage tracking logics or data manipulation, which could be mapped into the application logics layer. Therefore, OGSA-DAI can be used by RUS-WG for exposing usage information.

PS: as you see, only three technical-specific answers are provided 'cos other questions are more administrative and far ahead me :)
