EGI. Different NGIs wish to deploy different software and for their
user communities to be able to access resources in different NGIs
without worrying the software stack that is being run on the remote
resources.

This applies as much within Europe as between Europe and the USA and
elsewhere in the world.

Standards provides the solution.
