Dear colleagues,

By now you will have received the notice and checked the schedule for
sessions at the North Carolina meeting of the Open Grid Forum to be
held later this month. There are several sessions related to
identity management that are important and that we would like to
encourage you to attend.

There are several Open Grid Services Architecture sessions(OGSA-
AuthZ, OGSA HPC Profile, OGSA-AuthN-BOF) that address standards for
high performance computing and authN/authZ issue. In addition, there
will be a Security Area session, a Certificate Authority Operations
session, and an important all-day set of four sessions dedicated to
the topic of federated identity management for grids. There will
also be an important BOF very related to this one on Levels of
Assurance in grid software.

These sessions inter-relate and the topics in some may feed into work
items in the others. As grid authentication and authorization
implementations continue to grow in complexity of features and
sophistication, it will be important to understand the relationships
between the above systems and how they can be deployed in a single
set of uniform (or at least standardized) technologies for a given
grid implementation.

The OGSA-AuthN BOF will be devoted to the topics given in its
outline, which aim to document existing standards and practices and
create a roadmap for the evolution of grid services authentication in
the future. Your attendance at this and participation in each of the
above sessions so that we can form the best possible roadmap is
important and will be appreciated. Please come and be ready to
participate and give feedback as well as to volunteer to work on the
appropriate documents, standards and technologies.
