[ogf20pc] Suggestions for GMB Panels

All,

I have read the actual 451 report ( 2007 grid adoption report) and it is
a very good report on the overall state of adoption. (I also think it
would be a good addition to the OGF20 Program).

There have been several articles that have been written on the report
that highlighted the issue of terminology (e.g. that the term grid may
or may not survive or may be replaced by some other term.) So ... my
read of the 451 report is that the overall industry is still struggling
regarding what to call this next stage in distributed computing (no
surprise ...) while real organizations continue to adopt the
technologies and solutions and gain competitive advantage. Mark

Hi PC and sorry for the delayed response to Bob's comment
on The 451 Group's OGF20 contribution.

Not sure which dodgy outlets you have been reading Bob
but it certainly is not 451 research!?

Indeed our recently published Grid Adoption Research Service
report?on "Grid Computing - The State of the Market" examines how grid
is now
being used as a means to achieve all kinds of objectives. I'd be glad to
share
the findings of this work - 15 in depth studies across a number of
vertical markets - with
any of the PC (and OGF20). FWIW we're now tracking some 250+ commercial
users of grid,
our work shows grids are alive and kicking and invite you to? take a
look?at your
convenience to confirm this!

cheers
William

OGF20 ?Grid Means Business? track

Status as of 19th Feb 2007

?
This memo lists the possible speakers for each GMB session.? We have
received some proposals via the CFP and personal contact, which I list
as ?Proposed?.? Other people have been suggested during PC calls; we
need to check the status of these.
?
There is some overlap between the suggestions for some of these
sessions.
?
We might also invite talks via CoreGrid (c.f. their workshop proposal).

1.?? GMB: Setting the scene

Confirmed

Paul Strong (Ebay)
William Fellows (451 Group) [State of Union -> Paths for Adoption] ?
Members of the PC should note that the last 451 Group report declared
that Grids might be dead. Comments???? Is that the setting of the scene
that would be helpful to kickoff the meeting?
