Hi Andy,

Congratulations!. It is great to see the growing adoption of the
specification. When Thijs and I started the group two years ago, it
was not easy to convince OGF about the relevance and the urgency of
starting this WG, and to involve the first projects and companies.

I would like to acknowledge the contribution of the developers of the
two first OCCI implementations at INFN and in the OpenNebula
open-source community and the RESERVOIR project. They have invested,
and are investing, a lot of time in the development, support and
maintenance of the code, so contributing to make a difference by
creating a "usable" standard. These outcomes are being used in many
new research and infrastructure projects, being in my view the main
driver for adoption, and the main reason why many companies and
projects are creating components around the OCCI open specification.

Again, I am very happy to see this level of activity around an open
specification for cloud computing.

The creation of a group about federation of cloud infrastructures is
great news and a natural step that should leverage the work that has
been done in the context of many grid OGF WGs. Two supercomputing
centers in Europe have federated their cloud infrastructures using
OpenNebula and OCCI (http://blog.opennebula.org/?p=999), and there are
several Telecoms federating their data centers using a similar
approach, I am sure that they will be happy to contribute their
experiences.

Cheers,
