Dear Dr. Sill

Within the past few weeks you should have received an invitation to the US Department of Energy, Intelligent Optical Network Infrastructure Workshop that will be held at the Hilton Washington DC North/Gaithersburg in Gaithersburg, Maryland, August 5-6, 2014.  If you are planning to attend, we ask that you please use the link below to register as soon as possible.

The dramatic advances in computing hardware and the pervasiveness of BigData in all sectors of the economy including scientific research are increasingly pushing the limits of modern communication networks. For organizations, and especially the scientific community to take full advantage of these rapid advances to accomplish mission objectives, communications networks have to be reengineered to provide sophisticated services and to deal with emerging constraints such as energy, resilience, and traffic complexities. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together experts from academia, industry, and national laboratories to accomplish the following tasks: a) assess current network technologies in light of extraordinary advances in computing technologies and the emergence of Big Data, and b) identify the challenges and opportunities in transforming current network technologies to provide intelligent and automated services to accelerate scientific discoveries in the era of distributed extreme-scale computing and pervasive data-centric science.

The workshop will begin on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. and will end on Wednesday, August 6, at 5:00 p.m.  A continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.  Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.

As an expert in fields related to Intelligent Optical Networks and Applications, your contributions would be of significant value and greatly appreciated.
