How much do we care?

-------- Original Message --------
Today, IBM, Microsoft, HP, and Intel published on their respective web
sites the first draft specification from the WSDM and WS Management
convergence roadmap called Web Services Resource Transfer (WS-RT).

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/webservices/library/specification/ws-wsrt

This convergence work is in response to our customers request for a common
set of open standards for the management of resources, devices and
applications with the goal of achieving interoperability. Both WSDM and
WS-Management use lower-level specifications so the approach being used is
to build on existing specifications defining a set of enhancements that
enable convergence. WS-RT is the technical evolution of the OASIS
WS-Resource Framework and W3C member submission WS-Transfer refactoring
work from both. WS-RT describes how a resource manager can manipulate the
XML representation of a resource. When the state of a resource can be
modeled as an XML document, WS-RT defines a mechanism by which SOAP can be
used to query and manipulate the state of that resource. Additionally on
August 16, the WS MetadataExchange specification was republished to
incorporate changes for better integration with WS-RT.
