Well, not from my point of view, but XML may have different constraints. In LDAP there is only one schema in the server so changing existing objects is no harder than adding new ones, the problems with upgrading are to do with publishing and querying rather than the schema itself. The advantage of inheritance to me is somewhat the opposite, that if you do change a base type you automatically get it in any derived type. Anyway as far as clouds go it's probably a moot point since I guess you would only want new cloud-related things in the cloud objects.
