From cbuxcel1667 at gmail.com Wed Mar 27 02:10:22 2024 From: cbuxcel1667 at gmail.com (PROFE CLAUDE) Date: Wed, 27 Mar 2024 10:10:22 +0100 Subject: [glibrary] VICTIM OF ABUSE BY ONE OF YOUR TRANSLATOR PARTNERS Message-ID: Good morning, Not knowing where to write my complaint, I would like to write directly to this address in the hope that you will be able to attribute this email to the appropriate person: Let me introduce myself, my name is Claude Eliane Buxcel, I am of Swiss nationality and have been living in Peru, the country of origin of my only son, for several years. Being trilingual, I responded to a translation offer for your project of 2 books Siddharta and the Island of Doctor Moreau to be translated from English to Spanish. I have signed a contract with one of your translation partners Jobsurge Jobsurge at europe.com Contract that you will find in attachment. Once the work was finished I was forced to join an online bank: https://northprimeudc.net This online banking entity received my salary and, rather than paying it, asked me, firstly, to pay 100 dollars to activate my account and secondly 150 dollars in taxes. I am doing what is necessary because I am in a difficult economic situation, living alone in Peru without any help or freelance family is not easy. The employee attached to Jobsurge (Jesse Graham) and the account manager who was automatically assigned to me guaranteed me that my money was on its way to my account here in Peru. A few hours later, I was asked again for a fee of 250 dollars, the so-called IMF tax, with 1 certificate and a PDF as proof, drawn up in a crude and totally absurd manner. Having real doubts about the veracity of this online bank and being of Swiss origin, I asked for help and wrote to the BIS: https://www.bis.org/ I am waiting for confirmation if this banking entity really exists. I am writing to you so that you can realize that malicious people take advantage of the skills of humble people like me (I speak 4 languages French-English-Spanish and German) to get as much as possible and to defraud them by demanding money from them. money to receive their winnings. To date, I do not know how many people have been affected by this type of malice, but I feel the duty to warn you of the bad image that your admirable philanthropic Foundation, which encourages reading, can reflect through the questionable steps taken by your abusive partners and with a total lack of transparency. I am attaching to you the contract signed by your translator partner, the false certificates and supporting documents drawn up by the account manager linked to this bank and let you form your own opinion. I am of Swiss origin and am used to being frank, straightforward, honest and I am used to working in total transparency when it comes to offering my services and skills against remuneration and with a signed contract. I am an avid reader, these 2 translations were a real pleasure to produce but which ended in a nightmare when it came to carrying out the fruits of my labor. I have been without money for days and I no longer have enough to feed myself or my son. I went into debt to get what I owed and I am still being asked for money. In the hope of being read by a sensitive and honest person and that this email reaches the right person, I would like to congratulate you for your encouragement to read and directly offer you my full collaboration for translation services French-Spanish-English as part of your Gutenberg project. Please accept my best regards. Project Gutenberg does not pay for content: we are all volunteers, working with freely available books. We do not solicit translations. The "Collection Development Policy" at www.gutenberg.org has details. We have never heard of Jobsurge. We do not have translation partners. Your story is unfortunate. I wish you had instead gotten in touch using "contact us" links at the bottom of every page at www.gutenberg.org, and I would have guided you to not enter into any agreements. I strongly encourage you to ensure you have not provided any of your personal banking or credit information to the people you have corresponded with. Visit a search site like google.com and type "how to avoid being scammed" to get lots of authoritative advice. For example, here is some helpful advice from the Australian Government: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/protect-yourself/ways-to-spot-and-avoid-scams You should immediately discontinue correspondence with the criminals who are trying to take your money. It might be worthwhile for you to visit your local law enforcement and your bank to see whether they can give you any advice. Project Gutenberg is always on the lookout for scammers or others that abuse our good name and our free library. In this situation, we had no way to know what was happening until you contacted us. I do hope you are able to recover from this unfortunate situation, and continue to use your translation skills to benefit your situation.
