[GHPN-WG] Grid Network Interface BOF in OGF23!

Dear GHPNers, all,

 

I glad to inform you that a Grid Network Interface BOF has been
organized on the upcoming OGF23. 

 

It will be held just after the GHPN meeting on Wednesday 4th of June
between 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm.

 

The description and agenda for this BOF is shown below:

Description:


During the last few years, it has become evident that the diversity of
both grid and network infrastructures has broadened considerably.
Interoperability between these infrastructures is a critical aspect in
the realization of seamless Grid networks services. To this end, a set
of interoperation efforts among Grid layer (Grid applications/
resources/services) and network layer (network services/resources)
cannot be over-emphasized. 

The Grid Network Interface working group will provide a recommendation
for an interface between Grid layer and Network layer. The interface
will define the set, type and level of information transaction between
these two layers as well as procedures and protocols required for it.
The interface aims to facilitate interoperation between any type of Grid
service provisioning system (e.g. middleware, scheduler), application,
resource and network service provisioning system (e.g. control plane,
management plane), resource.

This is the outcome of the common effort carried out during the last 2
years between the GLIF GNI group and the OGF GHPN research group. It
will reflect community consensus derived from a number of research
projects around the globe capturing efforts from the research community
as well as major telecom operators and industry leaders in the field.
