Hi there,

The OGSA-DAI project have released version 4.0 of their database
access and integration software.

OGSA-DAI is a customisable framework for the management of distributed
data resources - whether these be databases, files or other types of
data - via web services. OGSA-DAI provides a workflow engine for the
execution of data access, update, transformation, federation and
delivery scenarios. It also provides a powerful distributed query
processor allowing SQL queries to be targeted across distributed
databases.

The main features of OGSA-DAI 4.0 are:

-OGSA-DAI SQL views components, which allow views to be defined over
read-only databases, previously released in December 2008, have
  been refactored and fully-integrated.
-Generic activities, contributed by the ADMIRE project. These allow
clients to do joins or transform a stream of tuples using a script
(written in JavaScript or another scripting language) that they
submit to the server with their workflow.
-JDBC-based relational resources now support connection pooling using
  the Apache Commons DBCP package.
-Data sink and data source operations now support sequence
numbers. This allows clients to resynchronize with a server in the
  event of a network outage.
-Data sinks and sources now support non-blocking read and write
  operations.
-A trace facility to view the execution of an OGSA-DAI workflow via a
  JSP page.
-A web server file caching activity that streams data into a server
file and a RESTful interface to allow access to these files.
-Example activities and supporting classes to convert OGSA-DAI
tuples into KML (Keyhole Markup Language) documents.
-Configuration and deployment changes to make it easier to express
complex configuration requirements and copy configurations across
  servers.
-OGSA-DAI now compiles and runs under Java 1.6.
-Numerous bug fixes have been applied.

OGSA-DAI is a free, open source, 100% Java product and is released
under the Apache 2.0 licence. Downloads compatible with Apache Axis
1.4 and Globus 4.2.0, are available at
